My computer is not loading internet well. I am also not sure if this is the correct forum, please correct me if I'm mistaken. Thanks!
AVG (new) runs each evening. I have run Malwarebytes, I have done the read and run first. In addition, I have followed directions in other posts...
    Run MGTools, Tdsskiller, CCleaner, Oldtimer.
I did not have a browser window open, I closed it, yet Task Manager had it running.
When I first open after a reboot I have the following running (only over 5000)
    System 120+K
    Wlidsvc 8.4+K
    WUSB54gc 9.5+K
    lsass 6+K
    AVGIDSagent 7+K
    svchost 28+K
    svchost (net) 6+K
    svchost (local) 6+K
    Avgwdsvc 15+K
    K9 filter 9+K
    SeaPort 8+K
    explorer 22+K
    adproxy 5+K
    wmnetwk 8+K

I am not sure what to do next.

Did you check with an internet speedtest.com first? It could easily not be you.

Looks like your connection is good, DSL I assume? What software have you loaded recently?

I loaded the new AVG...maybe me, but that is about the time the problems started. I have also loaded Tdsskiller and oldtimer, and emissoft and xsetup (xteq systems). i have uninstalled a few things using revo uninstaller

Ya, could be a combination of things. I'd try and restore first and then install the apps one at a time. There seems to be conflict, I don't know your apps but that's what jumps out at me.

What kind of operating system do you have on the compute? (example windows xp, vista, 7,)

How much RAM is on the computer?

Also I know that AVG did have some features on it that some people did disabled due to it being slow or using many resources. And also some eventually got rid of avg and tried new antiviris like Avira and Avast(which I use Avast and recommend it). I don't know the newest AVG but if you want you could try uninstalling and applying Avast or Avira.(if you restore and nothing happens).

My OS is XP Pro SP 3
    1G of RAM
    Intel Pentium 4cp 2.4 Ghz
    37 G used
    19 free
Should I try uninstalling AVG and getting another one?

With 1G of RAM is less then what they'd like on windows xp 3. And not to mention other programs that are on it as well. My recommending is try new antivirus being Avast or Avira. Also when doing this uninstall AVG fully and install the new antivirus program. Also I was going to mention you could try using different browsers. Internet explore, firefox, chrome, safari. I know on my computer IE is slow when browsing and I got 4G of ram so I started using firefox long ago and have stuck with it ever since. Also many have switched to chrome due to it suppose to have low resources when being used.

I have used firefox for years, although explorer is still running? I don't know why.
Should I uninstall Internet Explorer as well? I was always afraid to.

No you need internet explorer for some computer things plus its there to update your computer from microsoft. Even tho you said your computer got slower about the time of installing avg. A side note is that firefox addons can be causing slowness as well.

If you are looking at Task Manager when you see 'explorer' running, check again and you will see that it is 'explorer.exe' which is not Internet Explorer.
A common mistake made because Microsoft did not think of a different name for their original IE browser.

You mean you see explorer.exe in Task Manager? That's Windows Explorer and is normal. Internet Explorer appears in Task Manager as iexplore.exe.

Can you be more specific? Maybe give an example?

You're kidding, right? I don't use my Win XP SP3 computer much nowadays since another computer running Win 7 has become my favorite, but I've never had more than 512MB with Win XP. Of course, I'm sure it would be more responsive with 1GB but I really can't see the need to go above 1GB.

    I THINK I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM!

90% through the uninstall the screen switched to a bright blue one with a message that a problem had been detected and windows had shut down to protect the computer.

Ah...I think I will uninstall Blue coat, I use it as a parental control device. I will then uninstall AVG. Then I need to find another parental control device. Does that sound like it may work? No guarantees, I know.

    UPDATE:
I am not sure why this worked, but it did. I disabled the ID Protection on AVG and all is running a lot more smoothly. Internet stays up for hours now instead of minutes. I did not uninstall K9, I could not find another program capable of the same thing. All other programs and security measures are as before. I know the best defense against viruses and malware is to watch where you go, my teenager doesn't get it. Until she gets to a point where she has more common sense than hutzpuh (around 20 or so) I need to keep K9 on. This is the family computer. If anyone has any idea why this particular component of AVG is causing this, I would like to know.

I figured it was that but never know. Also people have issues with there kids and computers and some even come here asking for programs to assist them and what not. I am a believer of if you cant listen/mind then no computer at all. You change it to where she can have limited account on the pc as well.
