How to find popular forums?

Hi,

I've got a question about finding internet forums, which I've found hard to do in the past. For instance right now I'm looking for a forum on gardening, but the whole first page of google results is filled with crappy forums that might have had one or two replies in the past several weeks. I remember trying to find a sewing forum some time ago and having the exact same problem.

Does anyone know how to find popular/fairly active internet forums on certain topics, since the google oracle is apparently somewhat lacking in this regard?

Unless someone specifically recommends a forum then it's just a process of elimination i guess... nothing else you can do but wade through the cr*p to find a decent active one.

 

I did some searches on IxQuick and Google using +gardening +forum

I've never used any of them.

This doesn't help weed out the good from the bad, but the extensive results look interesting.

I used dmoz.org - About in the Gardening category and searched for Forum:

http://www.dmoz.org/search?q=forum&cat=Home/Gardening&all=no

 

You can easily find a huge list of high ranked forums on Warrior forums..!!
I have downloaded the list of those forums and if anyone of you wanted it then do pm me..!!
