    What's up?

Been to Best Buy, Office Max, and RadioShack. They didn't have what I was looking for...

This may be self explanatory. I have a DELL GX270. I'm trying to plug in my LCD monitor into it.

Check these out. This is the back of the computer/motherboard I will be plugging it into.

    The DVI-D (single link) cable:

    Will this converter work?

    OR this cable:
DVI-I Male to DVI-D Male & VGA Male Video Cable Splitter, 5M

How about an alternative cable or converter that works just the same? I think I've got it right just needed an expert.

    Thanks!

    Back of computer
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx270/en/ug/sffabout.htm#1184495
which shows the standard VGA connector.

Which means you want an adapter so you can plug a DVI-I monitor into the computer?
    Like this?

The VGA end, not shown says it it male so this would be plugged into the computers VGA port. It then presents the port as a DVI-I female for the monitor cord to plug into.

So it would look like this

You hit it right on the head plodr!

I was getting confused as to the look of the DVI connection. Thinking it needed 24 holes. Looking at the back of the monitor tells all.

I should have posted a link to the Monitor before...

Dell 1703FP Flat Panel Color Monitor

    Specs: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/1703fps/en/specs.htm

I'll buy the adapter you mentioned online. Big box stores might have them, but as you know, at 5 times the price.

    Thanks to both of you!

Just want to mention that this needed the DIGITAL and not analog version.
