The greatest race in the Southern Hemisphere is on this weekend. This no round and round oval race. ;)

I hope you, in the USA and UK, catch it as the start time has been altered for American prime time TV. Especially note the cars down going through the Dipper. Nothing else like it in motor racing, IMO.

When is it supposed to start your time as I can't find it in my listings as usually one of our cable sports stations normally carry rallys but I don't get foxsports.:( Expensive to televise and not much money in it, I believe but it beats the 'left, left, straight' folks and the Grand-Prix folks who have no surprises of terrain. I just love them!

Edit: Hehe, not even on fox up here.:(

Hi augiedoggie, this is all I know about starting in the USA. :(
As for OZ times: (Eastern Australia Daylight Savings time)
    9 hours ahead of UTC.

My note: The Dipper is so steep (and drops down) that they used to run a hillclimb up it (in the reverse direction--in ye olden days :-D .)
Hope you can catch it, in the USA and UK. Wet weather predicted will make it an even more incredible race.;)

As for OZ times: (Eastern Australia Daylight Savings time), +9 hours ahead of UTC should read +11 hours UTC, not 9. My bad.

Not only the shape of the track, but the change in altitude from where they start, to the top of the Mountain and back down again.
Not too much is flat, all mainly up, or down. :major

I doubt if you will. :cry :( Can't you just get the broadcast at a fee, on Speed?
I've never heard of Speed TV before, and don't have Cable so I don't know their broadcast restrictions.

You might be able to get it streamed over the Net live, via Aussie Net sites.
Check out http://www.v8supercars.com.au They should have all the info.

What a finish. Less than 1/3 of a second between 1st and 2nd cars, over 1000 kilometres (around 620 miles).

The fiery crash of one vehicle was really frightening. The 2 Fire marshalls should get a bravery medal for their effort in dowsing the fire. I know they "are only doing their job", but they did an incredible job.

In 2 weekends time, the 600 kilometre Gold Coast street circuit race is on, between the concrete canyons of the Gold Coast city of Surfers Paradise.

Bazza are you rubbing it in that you still get the V-8 Holden and we got the Pontiac GTO and G8 cancelled?

    bigbazza R.I.P. 14/12/2011 - Good Onya Geek

No rubbing it in. We don't have the "Pontiac GTO" (Holden Monaro 2 door] anymore either. :cry

It is/was available as a "Vauxhall Monaro" in the UK. Probably discontinued there, also. :(

We can still buy Holden Commodores (4 door) in V8's. Our v8 Supercar racers are either Ford Falcon or Holden Commodores (both much modified).

In the 60s when i was much younger i loved having a V8 muscle car. the best at that time was built by Rover with a de-tuned Buick motor but it was easy to get extra HP by fitting 4 barrel holly carbs.
The police used a highly modified version of this auto and there were very few cars they could not catch.

Here in Belgium you need to be a business man or very rich to have any sort of V8 because the road tax is based on the engine output (BHP) so it is not for the average motorist add to that the cost of gas and it is very expensive.
I currently have a Toyota RAV4 that has a 2.2 litre gas motor that does 37 MPG.
