It's never too late to buy gold, as it is always for sale. However, if you're asking if buying gold now will make you rich, I'm afraid my crystal ball is broken. ;)

Right now, gold is at a high price. It's just like anything else (think Real Estate). My husband and I ask the guy we invest with and he didn't recommend it. If you got in a year or two ago (or before) you are going to do really well as long as you get out in time.

    Here's a link to US News: http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs...und-investor/2011/09/20/dont-rush-to-buy-gold

I wouldn't buy it. To me it's like the people who went and bought real estate as an investment when it was at a high...thinking a lot of them are really regretting their decision.

Me too.LOL It looked like the WOW gold spam.

If my crystal ball had been working a few years ago, I would have bought gold. It might go higher, but now you would be getting in at the end, or close to it. And if the world goes totally crazy, what good would gold do you? How would you buy a chicken with a gold coin?

Perhaps some lead, brass, and a few other components might be a better investment. With of course the proper propulsion device to use those items.. :-D A shotgun and AR are on the top of my list.

I wish I had gotten into gold a few years ago... Would be close to selling now!

A said, about 2008 was the best time to buy gold and real estate. I was telling everyone that, then, and I didn't even need a crystal ball ;).
On the real estate note, I was thinking about selling my property back then, which quadrupled in value from 2003 to 2005 and buying a few properties in the U.S. But my kids are still over here, so I decided not to live back in the U.S. again (You're safe for now, guys!:-D).

I think its depends how much worse the financial crisis gets,if you do buy gold your betting its gonna get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

Don't listen to me anyway I said buy shares in BP last year.:-D

Sorry if anyone listened and lost their house:( On the bright side there are now lots of cheap houses out there;) Unfortunately there are not many cheap mortgages:-D

Even gold is down today. I wish I had some shares in Nortel during the .com boom and it took some 6 months IIRC for the stock to go penny after the .com bust. How come it took that long?:confused

Gold is an investment and fluctuates. There is no way it could ever be used in place of the dollar...nor any other metal that has any value. Well, not unless we go back to a barter system, anyway. Of course with the economy, that may not be far off. :rolleyes

    what cause the crisis?
it seems to me that it happened because no one is accountable and those that have power, make rules to whoever lines their pockets

Never has the phrase "If I didn't laugh I'd cry." been more fitting.

I'm done arguing about the economic crisis,I know exactly what happened,I know who is to blame and I know most of them won't be punished.

I know the world is a twisted place, once you accept that and realise you can't tryna change it or other people's opinions all that's left is whining and moaning.

I wouldnt buy gold at present as its too high a price as investors are hitting gold at present as the safe haven, the area to possibly hit is weirdly the drinks industry and one company Diageo etc who are performing well in this current turbulent market.

Also look at companies that have previously been high stock earners but are low at present as they will recover, its a punt but maybe a valuable one, this is risky and I know I have taken a few risks of late in the markets but I believe they will pay off in a year or so's time.

Im thinking that way with CEL, while their stock is waneing right now,it's still paying 11% dividends and will go back up....I'm hoping.....

They are predicting Gold this time next year will be well over 2000 dollars per ounce. It's going to continue to climb because the US Economy cannot sustain itself much longer.

I wouldn't be surprised at that figure MOTC and its a good guesstimate indeed.

weird thing also is that oil is not as high as it used to be per barrel but the price at the pumps has not changed to reflect this, a year ago it was $153 per barrel and say £1.30 per litre (UK)

Now its at $82 per barrel and still at £1.32 per litre

    So who's ripping off who?

so should i go knock my neighbors now while I have the upper hand?:-D

The whole western world is crashing,literally:-D The US is seriously struggling as is the UK and the Euro may actually be in its death throws with members like Germany and France wanting to pull out and/or cutting off bailouts for failing states.

The way things are going the next decade is just gonna be really rough for everybody. Even China as the West is its best customer and without money w can't buy all those lovely single use disposable TV's and stuff.

We're not down and out yet though as my brother always says 'Your only on your arse when you can't afford toilet paper.':-D

I post a lot of thoughts I have on here because lots of intelligent/experienced people on here can set me straight why I'm wrong....

    why is the US failing?
because we dont tax corporations, like GE, or we let big corporations operate elsewhere, thus avoiding adding to our economy?
is it because the "democracy" is fueled by whoever has the most money?
a lack of transparency in the government?
or is it because the usa doesnt let anyone die?

that's harsh, but are we a big family(no) so why do we act like one? thus people go without health insurance and the government picks up the tab?
I know the healthcare system needs help, a Xray needs a cheap/set price? cause they vary
why health insurance isnt like car insurance? would the government fix your car just cause you cant?
why do people think healthcare is a right? or is the healhcare an issue at all in the government?
2 years on welfare? wtf? cant find a job....well maybe you shouldnt have ****ed around in high school, made it a point to bust your *** at something and not rely on the guys who busted their *** to pay you for the nothing you do, drugs/drinking dont count.

    or is welfare the problem?
    the rich want to pay more taxes? but why? trying to cool a house with buying more AC units wont help if the doors/windows are open;
the government is too big to know what its doing

why the hell can I buy booze and cigarettes, and food with transfats/sugar(which is shown to be as addictive as cokaine) and not buy pot?
how muchmoney is wasted on this "drug war"? reminds me of Probibtion, useless, if I wanted pot, I can go down the street and get some......
why is the world in such turmoil?
