F2, F8, F12 keys don't work

Hi geeks, I'm running XP Home SP3
I note that I can't get to advanced set up or the BIOS because the F2, F8 and F12 keys don't work during the boot process. I hold down, i tap rapidly, keys don't trigger the necessary process. Any ideas why? Is there another way to get there?

I can get to safe mode by using msconfig and the start up tab, but that it.

to attach the report , you can try to push del tab or F1 during start up to enter the bios !! :wave

You can also try those functions keys while you are in Windows to see if they are working properly.

For example:
F2 is used to Rename a file in Windows Explorer (the file manager)
F8 and F12 have certain functions within some Web Browsers so you can try them there.
What are the F1 through F12 keys?

 

It sounds like you have a USB keyboard and the BIOS doesn't recognize it. Do you have an old PS/2 (round connector) keyboard around to try?

 

I do have a USB keyboard, will find an older one and try this.
