Hi, I need advice on what cheap end motherboard to get since I got stuck with an ASRock pc of crap. I have AMD Phenom 9850 Quad 2500Mhz
    G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
And want to upgrade to DDR3.
This is what G.Skill forum said. Just havent had many replys to my G.Skill posts. One to be exact.
Please no offence to the G.Skill forum. They did get back to me once. There just doesnt seem to be much activity there.
So here I am seeking help from my trustworthy Geeks.
All I want to know is what motherboard below $70 I should get and should I go with the G.Skill F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH for Memory.

    Any help would be great....;)

I aim for mobo to CPU and "then" add RAM.

Personally I would not and WILL never build a PC around RAM, simply they do not provide "comparability specs".

I think you misunderstood me. I am trying to match my AMD Phenom to a motherboard:confused.
So far I havent had any responses on what would be a good cheap mobo.

Your the only response and you misunderstood. ;) But thx any ways..At least you responded.

So you want to throw away your DDR2's to get DDR 3's, of course that means a new mobo but why, it's not as if DDR3 will put your rig in orbit.:confused and not at the price point that you mentioned either. Perhaps your initial question was too vague.

I dunno, I get on this thing where I have a need for speed. The system chugs along at this point with this crappy ASRock N68C-S-UCC. I was told to get a mobo with a better chipset, like 790 or 890. I only have room on the ASRock for 4GB. It does have slots for DDR3, Im using DDR2. Will upgrading to DDR3 make any differance?
Or do I need to OC things. I am really not good at OC cpu's Never really had the need.
I try to keep things that are running inn background to a min.
    What would you suggest.
When I contacted the G.Skill forum, the tech said I might as well get a new mobo for around $60.
Or should I have someone on the forum take a look at how I can speed up my performance and maybe OC the Phenom. I am running Win 7 64bit which does drain alot of my mem.
Please give me your take on what I should do. Thx a bunch for helping me save money I dont have.
Opinions and help are more than welcome

well after doing some research on mobo's augiedoggie got me thinking. Why dont I just try to figure out why my system is running so sluggish. I researched all the AM2& am2+ boards.
They are old. I dont want to invest into some older problems. Perhaps someone can help me figure out why Im running so slow. Or even how to over clock my Phenom.
Thx Aug. I know this mobo I have is crap. But it once was faster.
Any suggestions on where to start? besides a complete reload?

Get the system running properly in the first place and then make some observations.

Use and run CCleaner Slim 3.11.1550:

Follow the video and then do a clean and registry scan with this application (I have seen it revive several PCs). Then do a HDD defrag!

    How full is your HDD?

Technicians stating get another mobo are full of crap! If they haven't at least asked the questions above!!

thx for all the responses. Well here I go again with changing plans again. I figured if I am going to go to all this time and expence I might as well upgrade. Its really not like adding DDR3 will turn my system into a rocket blaster. So I decided to get a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX. Which gives me alot more options. Now I always (when I build) have found that MSI mobos have always been very stable and easy to work with. My choices are either and ASUS or MSI. I want peoples opinion as I know that the chipset is the most important thing. I havent a clue whats hot these days. If anyone can guide me to an inexspensive $50-$70 mobo and 8GB of G.Skill gaming Ram around $50 or so. I can reuse most everything else and eventually get a solid state drive.
So, Gaming performance. Not Huge on overcloocking things. I want to extend the life of the product and OC tends to decreace the life. Ok So what I need is opinions on G.skill mem DDR3 about $50 a Mobo that the new AMD Phenom II. I want to keep the price down. I have a super high wattage PS, I have so many cases. I will have to get this monster cooled (suggestions). as well as getting a Bios chip fan. I have a cellar full of DVD drives. Is it really worth it to go to a blu-ray drive Writable. I dont have a blue ray.

So please help me set up a new build with your opinions.......Thx ahead of time.

Ok, I am going to go with either the am3 AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 or Quad. regardless. What would anyone suggest for an inexspensive motherboard. I have done many build with MSI mobo's and find then to be somewhat straight forward. I hear coplaints from peeps that are using other mobos. I have narrowed it down to either MSI or ASUS. What model would anyone suggest. Since the 6core and the quad are not much differant or are they? I would tend to go with a 6 core. Can Anyone suggest a decent board that will do what I want. Stable, expansion and such. Anyone had any experience with Asus M4A 88T-M? I am not crazy about having built in graphics, not being familiar with them. How are Patriot mem? Someone send me a build. My eyes are getting crossed reading all the specs. 6core or Quad? Asus or MSI? What ram? Any help would be great..... Thx for the FB so far.

If you want to keep it simple, get a mobo that supports your CPU, but don't expect to get a real "kick" out of DDR3.

I clipped a Sabertooth on the cheap, and toyed with a Phenom X2.

That old quad has a small cache (no offfense), and you'd be stuck with an AM2+ board. If you want to look to the future, save up, get an AM3+ board with a core unlocker, and an "affordable" AM3 CPU. Then, you can go "octo-core", with a RevoDrive once you save some more, and find another "nice price".

Even if you get DDR3 1866 RAM, you can still plug 1872 out of it, on automatic OC with an AM3 CPU, via the BIOS.

Now would there be a big differance between Phenom II quad and a 6 core cpu? I have been hearing good things about the Sabertooth. Thats one that has been standing out to me. So Quad or 6 Core AMD Phenom II.

Ok new plans. I need some adice on a new build.
    I am going to use AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core.
The problem I am having and need advice on is.... Which motherboard to get.
    I was looking at MSI 890 FXA-GD 65 or 70 or the Asus M4A88T-M.
All my builds in the past have been with MSI's. Ive had very good luck with MSI products.
I tried this pc of crap ASRock and tied my hands with it. It will be a second PC for me. or three if you count the laptop.
I am using the new build for 1, Performance, Multitasking, Gaming. So I will also need advice on some memory that wont break the bank. Plus I would like to use DDR3 1333MHz memory.Needs advice on that too...
For the Mobo? I want to spend between $100-$200.

Also some ideas on a good fan under $50

Oh! One more thing. I am buying the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, Black Edition (HDT90ZFBGRBOX) or Should I spend the extra and get AMD Black Edition AMD Phenom II X6 1090T / 3.2 GHz processor. Is there really that much of a differance??? or Should I just stick to the 1090T???

Ive looked at so many mobo's my eyes are crossing.
Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated

I can't reply to your motherboard needs except to say that ASUS stuff was always rock steady for my AMD stuff, same as with my current Intel builds.

Do you mean a CPU HeatSink Fan? If you buy the retail box then it should be fine for stock speeds. However, if you want to OC it to the hilt then you'd need something like a CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ which is an excellent air solution for $30.

If you want to spend a few extra bucks for a closed loop water block then a Corsair H50 or H60 are excellent choices for overclocking. I have both the Hyper and the H50 cooling my machines in my sig which are heavily OC'd.;)

All I can say is that ASUS is my favourite brand of mobo for both AMD and Intel, it's just that I haven't kept up with current AMD boards, someone else will have respond to that.;)

As to memory, since you're not going to OC then any decent RAM should fill your bill as long as it's in your board's QVL List.
