Printer job stuck in que, can't delete?

I am running windows 7 with a Dell w313w all in one printer. The printer is on a wireless home network.

I have a print job stuck in the que. I open all printers and there it is. When I try to delete the job it says deleting but it never goes away.

I have tried rebooting and tried downloading and reinstalling the software from Dell. Neither worked.

Any suggestions as to how I can clear that job? It is something I tried to print not something someone else needs to delete.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Run services.msc and stop the print spooler service and reboot.
then run services.msc and start the service back up.

This is strange. I tried several times stopping and starting spooling. It has not worked.

This may be an Outlook 2010 issue. I received 2 legitamate emails from Paypal regarding recent transactions I made. I tried to print one of the emails a few days ago. That is what is stuck in the que.

In Outlook 2010 if I try to open either of the emails from Paypal Outlook locks up. I can restart Outlook and read any other email I want except the 2 from Paypal. Locks up every time. I have deleted the 2 emails from Outlook and cleared them from my deleted folder and emptied my recycle bin.

I still can't clear that Paypal print job from the que.

I find it hard to beleive that 2 Paypal emails which I know are legit are effecting 2 seperate programs. What is up with that?

    Hi,

Try this ... Start> Devices and Printers> select the printer you use> in the bluebar above the devices you can see several options as to what you wish to do, select "see whats printing", in the next box highlight all the print jobs rightclick and delete.

this will stop the reccurance of the print que jobs.

Welcome to MG. Ask a friend to help you create a Batch file (delete Printer spool, if corrupted, or you want to clear it) if you need assistance to create it..
    -----------------
change to C:\ and type in prn-clear.bat to clear print queue.
    ------------------

    @echo off
    echo
    echo purging the print queue
    net stop spooler
    echo Deleting all print jobs
    ping localhost -n 4 > nul
    del /q %systemRoot%\system32\spool\printers\*.*
    net start spooler
    echo Done !!

Save it as prn-clear.bat, or whatever name you like.
It must be saved as a bat file, not a txt file.

Make a Shortcut on your Desktop, and run it any time you need it.

I don't have a printer set up in my Win 7 netbook so I can't check if the files I want you to delete are Win 7 files.

I've had to do this more times than I care to think about the past week when my printer dropped off the network. These instructions work in XP. (I'm not sure if 7 has .shd and .spl at the same locations as XP). Have a look before you type these commands.
Open a command prompt and type
    Code:
    net stop spooler
    and press enter
    Code:
    del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
    and press enter
    Code:
    del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
    and press enter
    Code:
    net start spooler
    and press enter.
Refresh the printer and the job should be gone.
