Some/certain websites won't load?

Just earlier today, for some reason, I am unable to get onto some sites because they just won't load at all, the main ones being Wikipedia, other wiki and wikia based sites and just some random sites when searching for stuff on google. They take forever to load and then come up with the message 'oops! Google chrome could not open the site'. Other than that, most sites are working perfectly fine and are running at a normal speed, but some are a bit slow with loading, like IGN, Gamespot and the American site for yahoo answers.

I've tried two different internet browsers (google chrome and internet explorer), but that doesn't work. It DEFINITELY has nothing to do with my computer because I've tried both my computers and they both have the same issue (even my PS3 couldn't load wikipedia). I tried connecting my DS to my internet earlier as well and couldn't connect (kept getting the 62010 error code) the first two times (never happened before).

So I think it must be something to do with my internet connection. I've checked my internet speed and that hasn't changed, it's just some sites refuse to load or take forever to load, very annoying. And I tried loading wikipedia and other sites that wouldn't load on my computer(s) on my phone and they all loaded fine, and since my phone is using the mobile internet, there must be something wrong with my router/internet connection.

The only thing I can think of is that my broadband provider has blocked me from these sites, but that doesn't make any sense at all. Especially since one of the sites I tried to load was Runescape which I haven't been on for about 2 years now.

Any ideas? I've had problems with my internet before, but never anything like this.

This has happened to me today as well, I'm glad I've found this forum.

I tired Wikipedia this morning, and assumed they were down. Then I noticed later tonight that it's about 4/5 websites that aren't loading. I even tried to load them on my PS3 and it won't load them on there either, like uralowl mentioned.

I tried flushing my DNS cache and resetting my router, and the problem persists.

You two don't happen to be with Virgin Media by any chance do you? Their forum is one of the sites not loading for me.

 

Are you with virgin media too?

Speaking of which, my friend who is also with virgin media broadband said she's gotten the same issue as me today and she currently lives nearly 20 miles away.
I've tried acessing the virgin media help forum to try and alert them about this, but it appears to be one of the sites that is refusing to load at the moment. :/

 

Apparently this is a big thing and currently attempted to be resolved. I've seen it mentioned on other forums here and here.

I guess it's a problem on Virgin's end then. I accessed the 'service status' webpage on my phone and apparently, there is indeed a problem with the internet at the moment in my area (to be more precise, it said 'intermittent connection issues on your broadband internet service'), but the estimated time till it's repaired is tomorrow night. Sigh.

 

I've just read elsewhere that it was fixed about half an hour ago.

Just tested the sites that weren't loading, they're fine now.

How about you?

 

I was on Wikipedia about 10 minutes ago and it was working fine.

Hopefully this problem is fixed for good now.
