I can't say as I blame them as they've lost/losing a lot of money in the States because some of their predatory practices are being neutered by legislation. I don't know about Canada as I don't have a card but none of my friends have brought up the issue, if there are any issues up here.

 

I don't know either whether it would effect those plans to other countries as well? In any case I still think it's :crap and :maddening. Why for heavens sake are these banks thinking about becoming like Facebook and whatnot, sitting on all that cash that they're not lending out to customers and small businesses?

 

The interest rate is too low and we all know who started that to make sure that WallStreet wouldn't take a mini-dive ATT against the banking community's objections. Ya'll know what happened after that.

 

Privacy? In this day and age? I expect the government of Canada to know what kind of toilet paper I'm using, and then relaying that info to Homeland Security. Not planning on buying any mass ammounts of fertalizer in the near future...

 

Actually banking was strangled by Government in the US recently with Dodds-Frank adding fees that the banks naturally passed on to the customers.
