Win XP Home boots slow the last couple months. Perform routine maintenance daily. Only have 33 processes running at startup, before starting any apps. Thinking if it's OK to eliminate any recent XP (Microsoft) Updates as the culprit. What do you recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

If you are referring to the Microsoft Critical Security updates, don't think you should start there.
Someone else may have some info. about a recent MS update that may cause such, but I haven't heard of that.

How is the Percentage of free space on your hard drive?
(don't go deleting stuff from the Prefetch folder as some places recommend - bad idea ;) )

Try a good defragger that puts boot files near the beginning of the drive: MyDefrag
(there are also others here that MG members like: Top Freeware Picks)

Some Security software can slow things down at boot up.

Consider what new software, if any, you have added and any other System changes or updates.
