    Hi,

I know I already have a sort of active post going but I have discovered something which is a separate problem. I have very old versions of both Spybot and Ad-aware installed on my computer. I can run them both but there is lots of stuff missing (I don't know how any of this happened) so they can't actually be used properly. What I want to do is remove them completely so I can just do a fresh instal of the latest versions. They appear in the list in CrapCleaner, but when I click 'run uninstaller' I get 'could not open INSTALL.LOG file' for ad-aware and for spybot I get '"Spybot - Search & Destroy/unis001.msg" is missing'.

Should I instead just go for 'Delete Entry' or is that a bad idea? Advice much appreciated, danke

    Hi,
I would personally use "Revo Uninstaller" from here....

this will remove all stubborn software and leftovers.

Sorry folks, but I recently had a similar problem uninstalling another program where I got the same message, "Can Not Open INSTALL.LOG"

It doesn't matter whether you use Add/Remove Programs or Revo Uninstaller or similar, they still Begin by running
the supplied uninstall UNWISE.EXE, so you'll still get the same error.

The advantage with Revo is that if you choose anything Other Than "Built-In" mode for cleaning, it will scan the registry for, and remove, leftover entries,
Even when the built-in uninstaller Fails.

That's what I did with the other prog.
Still may need to delete the program files manually.

The Install.log file was present in the correct location and I verified that it was readable.

    One approach that May work:
Make a backup copy of the Install.log file, then delete the original.
Reinstall the Same version to create a new .log file.
    Then try uninstall again.

Don't know if that will work.
Here are the oldest versions of Ad-Aware available at FileHippo
Oldest versions of Spybot at FileHippo HERE

Thanks for your advice. Using Revo worked perfectly fine, the offending programs are completely gone now.

I am having a similar problem. I currently have a game installed on my PC that I have been encountering problems with and I am tired of messing with. I went to uninstall and recieved a error message which stated that there was a problem with Setup.exe and it needs to close. I thought I would be clever and go to Add/Remove programs. This however did not work. So, I thought I would try to reinstall the program, which was also of no help because the setup cd found the game and refused to install.

Will the program you mentioned help me to remove this game?

    Thanks
    Michael

In a nutshell the answer is YES!!! ;) Revo is a fantastic tool for getting rid of problematic programs/software.
