    Hey guys,
Just curious if we have any guitar geeks here. I'm trying(been on and off for a few years) to learn how to play the guitar.
I have looked into differnt picks because I can't hold a normal pick very well(I still can it just slides around in my grip). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
I have been looking into just a set of standard Heavy Gauge Picks like this:

I've tried these(to no really sucess):

Finally I just was looking into these(see if it may help a bit):

Any suggestions/prferences would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you,

I would suggest a finger pick.
You can sand it to whatever thickness you need and you won't loose it while playing

Thank you. I ended up going with a 60mm nylon pick they work great!

lol I was just about to post this...

Always swore by them for both heavy rock electric through mellow acoustic.
The 0.60mm have enough solidity they can create those super clear heavy overdriven rock solo's (Sweet child o mine style) but soft enough to heavy strum acoustic style like American Pie.
Also the edges are finely tapered which allows for easy and grinding rakes.

They last too! I actually used the same one for my Les Paul (diff for my strat) for
7 years and if I ever start playing again will be picking up that old pick.

The texture together with the raised text creates a good grip that is easily held and the nylon construction moulds it to your hand.
I've given my pick to others and they have all said it feels out of shape, thats because it ONLY fits my hand.

Also if your pick is sliding then relax a bit more, not loosen your grip but chill your fingers and forget it's there, it should feel more like part of your hand than something you are trying to hold onto.

They work GREAT! The relaxing part is a bit hard for me as I have Cerebral Palsy on my right side(also effects my up strum and the rhythm of my strumming).

Well that shows determination. Playing guitar is hard enough. It's a great feeling though huh?
I should really get back into it some time, bad band issues a few years ago, too many arguments and BS and I lost heart in it.

What gauge strings do you use? Electric and/or Acoustic.

I always liked Blue Steel 0.10-0.36 on electric and I think I had 0.14-0.46 , I always found Blue Steel held clean sound for the longest, I really liked the Elixre, they were wax coated and felt soft like nylon, but man they were expensive.

Thank you. That means a lot to me.
    I just got a set of D'Addario's

I just got my full size acoustic re-strung by a good friend. He cleaned off my fretboard and everything.
I have not gotten new strings for my parlor size acoustic and my electric yet though. Gonna stick with the Full size for the time being.

I've used Dunlop nylon .73's for bass for over 25 years. At one point I damaged a nerve in my picking hand and couldn't hold my pick, we had shows lined up so I wrapped duct tape around the top half of my picks, sticky side out, effectively tripling or quadrupling the thickness of the pick and managed to make it through about 5 shows that way. Nerve damage takes a LOONG time to heal .

I'm gonna turn this thread a bit to the right. Could anyone help me figure out the strum pattern for two songs? As for I can not figure this out on my own I've tried for hours to no avail. The songs are:
"You had me from Hello" by Kenny Chesney and
"Not a Day goes by" by Lonestar
Now I have the Chords and all that I just can't figure out the strum pattern for them and if I can get that then I'm good.
If anyone could possibly help me that would be wonderful.
    Thanks,
    Spock96
