People are funny.

Last Friday, I'm in a little boutique store looking around with a friend. I spot a very adorable poofy, frilly, taffeta skirt and there are no distinct sizes on it but from the looks of it, it would probably fit a 4-5 year old. Its very small. As I'm holding it up the sales rep comes over to me.

Rep: that's our last oneee!!
Me: really? Its really cute. I just don't know if it will fit.
Rep: You? (she takes it from my hands and starts stretching the waistband), it should as you can see its pretty stretchy.
Me: (stares in disbelief) no... Its for my friends daughter, she's 3.
Rep: oh... (awkward pause) well it will fit her too (she hands me back the skirt and quickly walks away)

Why on earth would she naturally assume that it was for me? :-D I mean, I'm not a big girl but I'm not tiny either.. I don't think that skirt would have fit over one of my legs LOL

 

maybe :-D I don't know but even if I wanted to walk around dressed like a hooker, that skirt would never make it to my waist..knees maybe LOL

 

...That would indeed be frightening!...:eek

 

Wow, that's a terrible way to approach a customer. She was lucky it was someone like you who didn't take immediate offence and storm out. We have someone at work who is like that. Assumes all the wrong things and frequently annoys customers.

What you should have done is said "No it's not for me, it's for a friend who's about your size, do you think it will fit?.... or better yet could you put it on for me so I can see how it looks?" :-D

 

I do have 2 tutu-esqe skirts and (in my size!! LOL) I do rock them :cool

Why's that?

She was much larger than I was, so I can imagine what her reply would have been LOL

Hi Dyamond, you should have bought 2 of those tutus, 1 for each kneecap:-D:-D and modeled them for the clerk.

 

rolleyes feelin' kinda old with that commentrolleyes takes cajones to sport a pink tutu and mickey mouse ears, just ask motc7, err....... about the tutu and ears, not the cojones:-D

co-worker: I see you took off Friday.
me: Yeah, going to a wedding.
co-worker: Your wedding?
me: umm..no.. don't you think I'd be more excited if it was *MY* wedding?
co-worker: I don't know.. it's a wedding *shrug*.. say, would you invite me to your wedding?
me: I don't know.. maybe if your nice to me.
co-worker: aww, well, I guess your never going to invite me then.

Random man outside of store I am entering:

RM: Hey pretty lady, can I put my number in your phone?
me: *ignores him and enters store*
I exit about 10 minutes later
RM: Hey, got any spare change?
me: uhh.. no, sorry
(and yes, it was the same man) :-D
