16g ram page file needed?

    I have xp 64 with 16g of ram
    do I need to use a page file, if so what size?

    Don't you mean a 'page file' which sits on your hard drive? Default size for XP is 1.5X16GB=24GB, quite too much depending on what you use the machine for. Perhaps you meant to say RAM disk?

    no i meant page file aka virtual memory?
    and ill certainly never set it at 24g so you are correct there
    I dont to video rendering or production , just general use games and email and google and skype and winamp and bittorrents

    Sorry, I missed that part in your post.:-o Set PF to 2GB and see if it gets used in task manager.

    Damn the virtual icebergs full speed ahead in using no virtual memory
    well see if there is performance or system error I will post my findings
