Can't seclect different screensaver on XP home.

I had it on none when watching sports or movies and now it stays on none no matter what I select. The preview works after selecting a different SS as well.

 

Make sure you click Apply and then OK

If that does not work, goto www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks and scroll down to item 51.

I had tried the first solution before but it didn't load or something. I tried it again and was allowed to place a 1 there which enables the screensaver. It didn't work never the less and I went to the second link and my control panel/desktop doesn't display what the instructions say. After clicking on desktop, I get windows metric and other things but only see about 6 screensavers listed. I couldn't follow the instructions because of the lack of key indicators.

PS: I went back to the second link and retried it and got a different reaction this time. I still didn't find anything pertaining to the exact instructions and couldn't complete them.

 

when in regedit at the key listed in kellys-korner click on the folder desktop, this will display the info for the folder on the right side of the window. after making the change. reboot the machine. sometimes the change is not applied until after a reboot.

 

OK, I did the item 51 thing and set the screensaver to 1 which should enable it. It still didn't help. I'm not quite sure what you're asking of me in your last post.

 

For anyone interested, I found out why I couldn't change my screensaver. It was my spyware protection. The name of it is spyshelter. After I disabled it, it allowed me to change the screensaver. Now my aim is to find out why.
