Hottest Holiday Gifts?

With the Holidays a few weeks away, it's time to pose the annual question: What do you think will be the hottest electronic gift item of the year?

Although a mundane item by today's standards, I'm suspecting a run on external hard drives due to impending shortages caused by recent flooding in Malasya (this goes back to Marketing 101: Tell people it's in short supply and they'll immediately start looking for and buying it ).

The economy is another "what if" factor in predicting this year's hot items. Although iPhones, iPads and i7 computers are on a lot of wish lists, the reality of most Holiday budgets may skew gifts towards more reasonably priced goodies.

I'm gonna go with the electronicy ones. A lot of people I know are getting (and giving) these sorta gifts this year for kids, teens, and adults. Who doesn't love a good toy these days?

While I love a good gadget, the top 2 gifts I want this year: shoes and gift cards (I would not be sad if someone bought me cookware/bakewear either :-D)

 

Well...the only thing I can afford to get anyone from that list is a gift card. LOL

Walmart Black Friday sales start at 10 PM Thursday this year.....

Due to the progressive inproving economy, many retailers are already offering deals.

It'll be just like the Running of the Bulls in Spain, except PETA friendly since no animals will be harmed in the stampede. :-D

That, or they figure so many people are living paycheck-to-paycheck they want to get their money while they can (why do you think Walmart brought back layaway after having killed it off three years ago?).

 

I am loaded down with geeky gadgets,
4 PCs
6 GPUs
12 HDDs varying from 300mb to 2 tb
10 Thumb drives
2 iphones (one mine and one for my wife)
And a workshop full of Mobos:CPUs:cables and other assorted PC related stuff that i am no longer able to use.
So this year i have asked "she who must be obeyed" for a fully automatic espresso machine.

Gift types are predominantly reliant on affordability then upon personal tastes.

Technical and electronical type gifts are usually hot favourites.

As an aside, I enjoy including some fun but useful gifts. Here's a couple:

1. Crazy Head Massager: This little gadget looks weird, but it brings instant nirvana to anyone you use it on. You grab the scratcher by the handle and place it lightly anywhere on a person’s (or your own) head. Push down gently and slowly, and the body’s first reaction will probably be a tingle, followed by a smile. Rather than wrapping it, I use this as a gag gift for a dinner guest, get them to close their eyes (a safety precaution also to safeguard the eyes!). Then standing behind them, I gently apply the massager. Fun for everyone watching their reaction!:-D
   
   
   
   
2. Digital Photo Keyring: It can hold up to 100 or more photos, and most include a slideshow function. For my non-technical friends, I download special momento photos onto it before repacking and wrapping it.

 

I got given one of those evil contraptions once. After spending some time trying to figure out what the heck it was, I was told it was some kinda massager. I nearly put my eye out the the damn thing, so I gave it to some kid to massage her dog with it. LOL

I actually bought one of these, but I messed up and bought a pink one. After a few people making fun of my spiffy gay looking key ring, I took it off.:-o
