OH oh.. laptop has a gremlin ....

I woke up this morning feeling well. I looked outside and we have a nasty snow storm. I love winter...
Anyway, I noticed my laptop woke itself up during the night and it had opened a search page. :confused Internet was not on, I always disconnect it for the night and unplug it from my laptop,,,maybe I am just paranoid, but I do this....rolleyes
My laptop was lagging for awhile recently and had lots of glitches until now... It works like a brand new fresh off the press Laptop .... I am not complaining but...:confused
I wonder if when programmers kick the bucket they return from the spirit world and continue with what they love to do :confused

The funny thing is, it's that I am malware, spyware and other nasties free
I've done what it is needed and do this on a regular basis....... my home has ghosts and need to be on the internet :-D or...it's just gremlins :-D

That's a little on the odd side. I would have said the same as BOOMM but you say you have run all the stuff and come up clean.
Maybe you should look into Ghostware removal :-D

Or disconnect all power, remove the battery and hold power to empty capacitors.

Keylogger software would be next and check logs to see if the haunting occurs at the same time every day.

Which end did you unplug? Laptop end or other end plugged into a router/modem/wall socket?

The usual routine is that I unplug from all sources
When I am done with internet and still working on my laptop, I always unplug the modem that connects to my laptop... nothing is connected only electricity...

Since then, before I go to bed, it is disconnected fully from power and electricity as well as modem... I do not have wireless either.. I do not have battery back-up either because I removed it from the laptop because I need a new one....

I now completely shut down my laptop for the night... no more ghosts...lol

Yeah, if you're interested, you may find that there is some wake-on-LAN, wake-on-mouse or wake-on-keyboard activity setting that is enabled in the BIOS.
Then again, if you're happy with it and it aint broke.....
