Hey guys! i know I like to fart around and stuff on here, but something rather serious I would like to share. Looking back briefly, I don't think I ever told anyone this, but I have been dealing with weight issues for a number of years. Problem was, that I wasn't serious about losing the weight, so I would start to eat right, workout, only to hit teh major fail about a month into it. This year, I hoped things would be different.

In March of this year, I decided to buckle down and finally try to make a dent in this thing called my fat butt. I recognized right away that most of my problem was the following:

    • Too much fast food.
    • Portions way to large.
    • Ice Cream
    • Coca Cola and Dr. Pepper
    • Red Box Rentals, which would make me do the other things with more frequency.

So in March of this year, I decided to get after it. In the first month, I dropped 10 pounds. By the time May came around, I lost 15 pounds and kept it off for the entire summer. But I still wasn't happy with myself. A couple of stats for you before I started this endeavor.

    Measurements:

    Neck - 18.5 inches
    Waist - 42-44 inches
    Shirt size - XXL

In November, I got wind of the HCG diet, and I started the drops and following the menu. However, something told me that while HCG occurs naturally in both sexes, probably not the best idea as a man to ingest more of a hormone that is produced in pregnant women, and just stay with what I have. So I did that, stopped the drops after about 3 days, but I stuck to the menu. The menu called for cutting out nearly completely oils, salt and sugar. I didn't have high hopes, but at this point, I was willing to try anything, short of having a cuddle session with Major Attitude. :p

I am happy to report, that this diet, or rather lifestyle change has literally transformed my life and totally changed my mind on how I eat. Just from watching the amount of sodium I took in along with the sugar, I dropped another 15 pounds, for a total loss this year of 30 pounds!

My clothes fit differently, and heck, I had to go out last night and buy a new pair of slacks for work because the other ones look way too baggy. Shirts, I am able to wear an XL but sometimes I still wear XXL because I'm a tall guy and XXL usually has a longer bottom to it. But here are some good stats after this change.

    Measurements:

    Neck - 17-17.5
    Waist - 38 inches
Shirt size - XL - XXL

But best of all, I knew for 3 years that I was hypertensive. I took my blood pressure recently, and I was in the normal range for the first time in 3 years. Not just borderline normal, but well within the parameters.

anyway, I am feeling good, feeling a bit skinnier now, and hopefully now, LauraR will find me more desireable and become my e-wife.

I agree on portion sizes in the States, humongous! As to the HCG route there's only one word, YUCK! I had to look that up.

Good on cutting out the soda and excessive sugar intake but I wouldn't worry too much about oil unless you deep fry everything.;) Since about 1980, there's fat free this and fat free that blah blah blah yet people are getting even more obese than before this fat free rage! Especially kids.

Also losing weight as slowly as you are is an excellent way in keeping it off and you're now replacing fat with muscle, which is heavier than fat, so don't worry too much about the numbers but if your new clothes start to feel tight then you'll know better than the scales.

As Julia Child always said "Everything in moderation".

Great going motc7! Can you send me some of your lost weight since I need some extra? ;) Come to think of it, nah - since it will probably create a pot belly as most overweight men have it stored there. :-D

Sounds like you have sprung a leak.
Package doesn't sound as full as it once was.
(Which is a very good thing, healthwise.)
My compliments to you for sticking with it and good luck on continuing.

Congratulations on sticking with it and not giving up. I'm doing something similar and have a very hard time staying motivated, especially this time of year.

I'm impressed. Congratulations on the good results! :) :highfive

Good job on loosing the excess Flubber, Mot :cool. Even just a few kg(lbs) can make a big difference, there.
As for your chances with Laura, I think that her hubby would terminate you in very short order. Apart from the fact that you assume what is left of your body is actually worthwhile...roflmao. The 'package' must have come from the bargain Basement.:p
~ The only fat that you need to loose now is between yer ears!...LOL

Wow that is seriously good stuff as in the area I do some work in, in diabetes the waist size is a factor and while the Docs like a size of 34" as a good measure, yours dropping from 44" to 38" is fantastic.

    Keep on going.
