Both PC's CRASHING...Again...

Found nothing in a search of the "Software" sub-forum here, so here goes...

1st PC first - the desktop, running Vista Home/Basic.

"My Defrag" (which I've used for some years now on XP & Vista Home machines) continues to give this error (screenshot attached).

Then page it sends me to for debugging said something about the memory not having enough space (which has nothing to do with Hrad Drive storage, correct?), but I have this "Clean Mem" program which I run and run and run...to no avail.

I suppose I should start another thread on the other machine crashing, because it's a different problem...

PS ~ Could this be a "Pagefile" (Virtual Memory) issue? I ALWAYS have adjusted this to the "Recommended number, because Windows NEVER compensates for what it recommends (at least never has on any of my machines!)?? Thanks again ~ glenn

 

I suggest you run CHKDSK C: /R from a command window.

I did this, and still got the crash in My Defrag, so I have uninstalled My Defrag.

did a little reading last night, and it seems the consensus was that the MS-WIN built-in Defrag is better since Vista (after XP) and this machine is a Vista (Home/Basic).

I think this may be a trend...and I may get rid of more 3rd-party programs, though often I have no clue if a program on my machine is "needed" or not (??).
