This (so-called) feature is a joke...what's the real deal on actually putting a stop to websites tracking me?

Okay, beyond the Firefox add-ons/plug-ins, what's next? In other words, how do I take the silly 'Do-not-track' and make it mandatory, instead of voluntary!

I'm sorry, I don't get what you want to do here. Cookies are typically harmless and Firefox should be ashamed for making it an issue when its taken years to explain the simple purpose of them.

Under Privacy, history you can "use custom setting for history and cookie settings.

I wish to eliminate websites ability to disregard 'do-not-track':

The custom settings does not do this...as I understand it, settings only limit tracking...the joke 'do-not-track' feature is supposed to take over from where the settings and various plug-ins/add-ons leave off, but since this is entirely voluntary, its like giving the fox your key to the hen house!

If this proves too extreme, decline only third party cookies and stick only to sites you trust.

The only way you can "eliminate websites ability to disregard 'do-not-track'" is avoid those unethical web sites, provided you can figure which ones.

Ever consider using a portable browser on a USB stick? Everything stays on the stick and not your computer. A bit extreme but have a few sticks and wipe and reload every few surfing sessions and the tracks are gone.
