I made an "Cantenna" out of my Wireless-G USB Adapter
I also made one out of my Linksys-G PCI adapter

I am connected to a hot spot a-ways away. It seems like I get better speeds using these together. Is it my imagination or is it possible that it is faster?
Also is there something else I should be doing to make it better?

Can they tell I am on their network?
I do some downloading from time to time. A movie here and there and some games. I use "VUSE" and I get speeds of around 400kbs

    Some advise would be awsome!!!

    Running windows XP SP3
Also..... is there a way I could use this connection INTO my router to spread the signal to the rest of the house?

    YA I know I'm Cheap!
It started out just screwin around. Then it bothered me that I couldn't connect. Then I was going to buy a 25db antenna but that would be cheating I had to do it myself.
I did some googling and came up with the "CANTENNA" idea. I worked out so well I stopped paying for roadrunner.

Hi, its possible but depends on what this hotspot is, a company or individual? on both though it would depend on if they noticed drops in speed when you are downloading large files and also if a company they may well at times check bandwidth and see large files downloading, and if said files are illegal then the person whos WiFi this is may get a call from their ISP on this, which could lead to them then trying to locate the piggybacker.

Grey area at present in law, but some info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piggybacking_(Internet_access)

Its a car dealership. They use the WiFi for their service customers. I only download large files at night when they are closed.

Is there anything I can do to speed it up or am I doing all I can?

Also is there a way to hook the wifi hotspot into my router so that I can get it in my sons room. As of now his wireless won't reach the Hotspot from his side of the house.

    Thank You For Your TIme

You can use Windows to share internet connections, you could set it up so that you have the incoming signal to you wireless then share your wireless connection to your router via ethernet.
You would have to turn off DHCP on your router, this would normally give out the IP address's, however when you share you connection your computer will take over that role instead.

as for the legality of such a thing I cannot comment :cool
