Wait, so there is more than 1 type of SATA power connector?

    I'm totally lost.

I got a used HP Blu Ray Drive. Model CT10L.

Taking out my old DVD drive and physically installing the new unit went well enough. It's just that when I tried to connect it....the SATA data cable was a match. The Power cable, though? Way too big.

So what am I looking for here?

If you pulled out an older DVD drive, it may have had a 4-pin (Molex) power connector.

If the "way too big" connector has 4 holes, it's a 4-pin connector. No worries: You can buy a 4-pin to SATA power adapter at a computer parts store or Newegg for a few bucks.

    Hope this helps. :)

If I see well... there is TWO connectors, one for the power (the big one) and one for the data, (the small one), different sizes.:confused

I can't say for sure but it does look like there are slimline power connections that are smaller (6pin type).

Take a look at this cable or this one. Do they look like they would work?

One end to the optical drive and the other two to power and Sata connector on the motherboard.

The first one you linked looks perfect. 7+6 pins.

So I want that end to be "male" right?

I think they are both the same. Here is a third that has a good picture (seller is in China so probably not best choice unless you are in Asia) . The description makes it seem straight forward.

I honestly don't see any difference between the three cables. I think it is just the angle of the pictures but yes the 7+6 connector looks male to me.

Edit: It looks like all three of those sellers are in China. As long as the cable looks to be the correct type then we want to find a more local seller.

This looks like one from Amazon.

One thing I noticed at Amazon is some of the cables had all 4 molex pins. Whereas most on the web have only two pins in the molex connector. I read one review that said the 4 pin one "fried" the drive. My gut says to go with one with only two pins but you may want to read a few reviews on different cables at Amazon. And also take a quick look at Newegg since they have knowledgeable users and their feedback is useful.

That Amazon one is the best price I could find and if you use the other buying options on the right and buy from HDE it should ship from PA. But it still might take a while.

Yes, Your drive is 5v so I think the 2 pin (red+black) is what you need. The extra 12v (yellow+black) wires aren't needed.
