Mother is asking me to copy some home made audio tapes for her. I make backups of computer programs, but never audio. How can this be done so that she can plau it in her car or her pc? I have two dVD drives on My PC

I'm just subscribing to this thread because I have done this once before so I may be able to help if you get stuck. I used the Y cable described which I had lying around. I believe I used Audacity for the recording.

The Wiki article only goes as far as getting cassette to PC. Which is as far as I had to go. From there you have to know what format the CD players your mother uses can read. If they can read Mp3 then it should be easy to get the recordings to CD. If not then the recordings probably have to go into standard CD audio format which is something I would be willing to investigate. I'm curious how this project goes. :wave

Thanks for the responce but I'm not going from cassette to cd. i'm actually going from CD back to cd. My PC would do just fine in WIN-XP but now that i'm using VISTA, I cant get the CD's to copy. I hope this clears things up. Sorry

    Tony,

Try using CDBurnerXP to copy the discs. I find it a very solid burning software. Don't worry that this guide says data CD for the newer versions of CDBurnerXP the process is the same for both data and audio discs. http://www.cdburnerxp.se/help/Data/copydata

If that doesn't work for you then imgburn can do it but it is a two step process. Using the "Create Image File from Disc" option to copy the CD to your HD as an .ISO file. Then the "Write Image File to Disc" option to write the ISO file you just created to a blank CD.

you can try this program i used to use called spin it again (it's $35.00 if you like it) www.acoustica.com/spinitagain/index.htm
the trial version only limits you to three recordings though.
