am using nero 7 to burn cd's with. after burning the cd and placing it in the cd player, the player doesn't "see" the tracts on the disk and gives me "00" for number of tracts on disk. most of the files that i download as streaming audio are in mp3 format and i have been converting them to .wav format B4 burning to cd.
this is an older (6-7 yrs) player - el cheapo about $25 bought at wal mart.

these same CD'S WILL play in two other CD players as well as the one in my car. the stand a lone cd player that won't play the cd's is probably 6-7 yrs old (at least) and will play "store bought" cd's just fine but will not play those burned with nero on my pc.

    any help GREATLY APP.

Some older (and cheaper) CD/DVD players will not read "burned" discs.

Since it's several years old and only cost $25, I'd buy a new one that can read discs created on a PC.

It sounds to me like your player wasn`t designed to play MP3s, i`d just buy a cheap new one,but look on back of box or where the specs are and see if it says it can play MP3s or look on the net for CD players that play MP3
Pretty much all players nowadays can play mp3s.

you're right, lone wolf - it definitely wasnt designed to play anything but storeboughts- i just kept thinking that if i used some other format before burning, it would read the file ok. the storebought cd's are in a format called
CDA but i haven't been able to find a file converter that will > CDA. anyway tks 4 reply

My old standalone CD players play WAV. When I burn, it changes them to cda format.
Does Nero 7 allow you to convert from mp3 to another format? If so, that's what you want to do before you burn the CDs.

My cd player also does not play mp3s. You need to convert to CD format first.

I use www.JODIX.COM to convert to WMA and then burn to cd.

just burn the disk as an audio cd in nero 7 and drag n drop the mp3's into nero that you want to burn
make sure you burn at no faster than 8x
    job done :)

tks 4 reply but i still cant get it to work- probably something i'm doing wrong.
when i open nero, i select audio cd and cant find a way to set the write speed.
i think default is 48x which is prob what its using. i've also clicked the little extension arrow on the far left and it gives me several options, none of which will let me adjust write speed. like i said, prob something i'm doing wrong because i don't understand your instructions. would REALLY app it if you'd try it again, a little slower and more speciifc, just exactly how i do this.
    as always
    thanks

plodr- tks 4 reply. dont know if nero 7 will convert wav > cda. i've looked in the program and can't find a way to do it. i just read the reply from cosmicma and started playing around with the prog and replied to him that i couldn't find a way to change the write speed from 48x. while playing around with it i discovered this: open nero > select audio cd and add your files to burn. i just added mp3 without trying to convert them to another format. do not put blank cd into drive until you're ready to hit burn. open the extension file (small arrow to extreme left) and select a write speed of 8x, hit burn and you're off to the races. my cd player played the file. when i looked at the file that was burned on the cd is was CDA. see attachment in Jing - must have IrfanView to open file. i've never sent attch b4 in this forum and it may not have loaded. pls advise and i'll re send if necc.

see my previous reply to plodr- i tried to upload an attch but it didn't work. i hit manage attch > browsed to file and clicked on it and then clicked upload. don't beleive file uploaded because when i view reply in forum i can't see where there's an attch to it.

if someone would tell me the right way to do thils, i'd app very much. OR tell me where to look (help or whatever) i don't mind trying to find out for myself

it looks like you managed it in the end :)

sorry my instructions were a bit void of detail but sometimes going in to great detail can muddy the waters

as far as attachments go you need to be in advanced mode when replying or starting a thread click on manage attachments
choose the file you want to attach and make sure it is the same file type pre listed ( jpg , txt , zip etc ) and no bigger than the file size that will be accepted
click upload and when the file has uploaded close the window

once you have finished with your typing preview the post
you should be able to see your attached file

    now submit reply
    job done....
