CatT I can't follow the rules

wiki and a few other sites are shut down for 24 hrs now as a protest against censorship legislation proposed in the US. while i agree with their position, i do not appreciate boycotts of any kind, much less of oneself! i hope they have enormous difficulty getting the site back up tomorrow. :mad

incidentally, i was using it at the time and physically witnessed the artcle i had open change to a message page. didn't think this would happen without a "refresh", but it did.

12:34 ET, btw. odd time for it -- did they just MISS a midnite goal, or does it take time for stuff like this to "ripple" thru the interwebs?

It hardly makes much of an impact if people/sites just say 'oh, yeah, well we don't like that legislation.' In order to get attention, action is required, not just words.

Besides it's an informational site. Its not like your ISP went offline. ;)

I have been a member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation since the 70's.
They are opposed any censorship of the internet of any kind. I have been sending emails to congress along with other members. It's time others get involved. The bill is worded so that it could interfere with distribution of any software including tools used here

    Action.

And don't just blow that off. Online petitions like that one is one of the reasons the White House made their statement against SOPA the other day. Sign it. Please? If this thing passes, I would like to be able to look back and say that we at least did what we could to protest and stop it. "We didn't know" doesn't work as an excuse anymore.
