robertbiferi I can't follow the rules

I have win 7. Home 64 Bit and 4. GB of RAM.

I opened Task Manager just to look at some things and see at the Bottum were it says Process it has 43.

Now I know this meen if I have say 3. Word Documents opened it will say 3 and if I have 16 Programs opened it will say 16.

So I know I do not have 43 Programs or Documents opened or running.

So I go the the top of Task Manager and click the Process Tab.

I see my Virus Program and this is OK.
But I then see a lot of things I don't need running all the time like Flash and Adoby and all this iother stuff.

Now I know I can stop them from running but can I stop then from running all the time for good??

Like I say there is way to many things running that I do not need and yes I yent through all of them.
    Thanks

Go to Autoruns for Windows and "uncheck" the boxes of programs you want to stop.

Is AutoRun in Task Manager or in msconfig or how do I get to it?

    msconfig, under startup tab.
Click start then in the address box type msconfig then under "Startup" tab untick any program you know, and that you don`t want to run on startup, but only those that you know.

You do indeed have 43 processes running. This number denotes background processes that may be necessary for your computer to operate. These will not necessarily show up in the applications or processes tab but will show up as "running" in your services tab .

Probably would be helpful to include a link to explain what each item is and its purpose.

The OP starts a high number of threads asking fairly common questions, I wouldn't assume he would know what each process he saw was for, so I thought a link that would explain would help him. k?

I do know about msconfig and have nothing checked but my Virus Program.

But in Task Manager it says I have 43 Processes running.

And if I click the Processes Tab at the Top of the Task Manager I see a list of things I don't even need to run.

If I stop anything here say Adoby Flash I know it will stop it from running now.

But if I restart the computer will it re start the Adoby Flash Process??

This is not recommended for managing startups - only for debugging/troubleshooting.

Well like I say in Task Manager under the Process Tab is a list of programs running.
One is Adoby Flash now I do not need this running all the time and I found a lot of other things I do not need.

    So what gives???

Many programs are designed to start automatically when Windows starts. Software manufacturers often set their programs to open in the background, where you can't see them running, so they'll open right away when you click their icons.

After using a tool such as AutoRuns to list what is running on your pc and determining what you want to keep or not/what's needed needed or not - you could also provide a screencapture or a list to get suggestions from some of the knowledgeable members who offer advice in this forum.
