    Greetings Geeks!

A battery failed during a game. When I rebooted there was no sound. Device manager shows no interesting signals. Looking around mg forums I notice there's both driver issues and hardware issues possible. Since everything did work fine. All devices are working. Headphones also do not work. The sound can be barely heard over the headphones. Any Ideas? Now I get old...

Acer tm 4500 xp pro sp3 Avast Opera

    Falconattack! From Greece! Thanks!

That is my model Acer and my windows audio is set for automatic, I restated it just for good measure. Still no sound. The crash also changed my display settings resolution, but that has happened before, and I've never lost sound before.

Thanks for the quick reply. Any more ideas?

I'm on dial up in the boonies, nothing quick here. My best wishes to you and yours-

Does this mean you do get sound through the headphones but it is faint?

Have you set the volume to the maximum by pressing the key combo? (could be function key and arrow up key)

Hi plodr, Thanks. I use that control, however, I restored defaults under volume and that restored my sound. I could hear the sound extremely low during the game, (speakers & headphones) (no debris in the hp jack!) with the game volume up full. Thanks for the help. Once again major geeks to the rescue. Thanks for the memory!

    Thanks everyone!

I'd just like to add that although there are a number of threads dealing with sound issues, most of them do not have any closure. I'm sure for about thirty seconds I felt kind of low-geek about that default button, but in all the years I've had this acer I've never had a sound problem, and Majorgeeker's have kept this baby purring like a lion cub. Weighed against the angst over my sound and sparing others the same, speaks to some responsibility among the participating community in letting the forum know how it all came out. So now you have it.

I'm sure I'll be back for my memory!

Ps to falconattack! Considering the news from Greece, I hope you have a mattress full of cash and lots of ram!! Take care-
