My original video card in a Sony Vaio RA840G desktop stopped displaying anything and offered one long, two short beeps. I replaced it with a new HD 5450 and now I get no beeps and no boot, no access to bios, nothing on screen.

Thank you in advance for your response.

First off, welcome to Major Geeks!

My initial concern is the series of beeps when the old card stopped displaying.

Although this varies by model of motherboard, a series of beeps followed by no display usually indicates a problem with the motherboard or the memory. Open the PC and look carefully at the board for the brand and model # (example: Intel pcg945xyz). Using this information, you may be able to find out what the Morse code of one long, two short beeps indicates the problem is by researching the board mfr's web site.

I would also try both your old and new video cards in another PC if possible. If they work on a different PC, it's almost certain you have a problem with the motherboard.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news; however I hope this helps.
