:mad I recently purchased a computer from MDG and have had no sound since I got it. I have tried the tricks I found on this site and still no joy. My drivers are up to date. My windows audio in services is enabled. My realtek audio manager shows my front jacks but has my rear jack greyed out. I pulled the panel and all my sound hardware seems to be onboard. Please help. I use my TV as a second monitor with HDMI and don't get sound there either. I'm wondering if I should just buy a new sound card and if that would help?

Welcome to the forum:) Since you have recently purchased the computer I would return it to them or contact them for technical support, even if you decide to try and fix it yourself they need to be notified that it was broken from the time you received it or the return process can become more drawn out.

Could you post some more info please, the make and model of your computer, your operating system,do you know the model of your onboard soundcard? If possible could you post a link to the support page of your computer to save time.

There are lots of different audio settings and menu's so its impossible to start guessing without this info.

Do you receive no audio at all? When windows turns on,on youtube videos or downloaded videos?

EDIT could you also go to Control panel/system/device manager and look for any yellow exclamation marks, post the findings.

To answer your questions; The computer is an Apton XXLF running Windows 7 64 bit. The proccessor is an i5-650 3.2GHZ and 6 GB ddr3 ram. I'm not sure about the motherboard but the only other number I found was DH55TC. Oh and I have an AMD Radeon 6700 series saphire 1 GB graphics card. There is one yellow mark on High Definition Audio device but have alredy uninstalled and installed drivers. I get no sound ever. Thanks for responding I hope this info helps.

Right well where that yellow exclamation mark is probably a sign that the audio driver is not installed so could you right click/properties on the device with the exclamation mark, post what it says in the 'general' and 'driver' tab.

The support on their website is terrible I cannot find a driver page or support page for your computer, here's the page of anyone else would like to try.

    http://www.mdg.ca/content/about/support.asp

Where did you get the driver for your soundcard from? Can you show the webpage or the name of the driver you have tried to install.

Could you download and install this program, run it and click the hardware tab, double click computer overview and let it run, once its finished at the bottom left will be a a little square that says "Copy to clipboard" when you hover the cursor over it,click it and paste the information into your next post, delete the computer owner name from the top line if you wish all the other info is annonymous.

Return it! All hardware should work properly out of the box on a new computer.

This soundcard is connect via the rear connectors so double check this is where you speakers are connected.

Right the device cannot start code 10 which is usually a wrong or corrupt driver. First I'd like you to check the bios to do this tap del. as soon as you turn the computer on,the audio chipset should be under the menu 'integrated peripherals' look for an option 'onboard audio device' or 'AC97' if its disabled enable it,if its enabled leave it,post your findings.

If after turning this on it works great if not, install this driver.

Let me know how you get on.

Also make sure your speakers or monitor are turned on and turned up and are connected to the GREEN output jack.

There are two ways to get sound from a computer one is via your soundcard 'the one without the driver',the other is through your video card via hdmi output which uses your video card driver.

For now connect using the green speaker output,I'll detail the other settings to get HDMI audio working later.

Try this:go to realtek device manager, and look for yellow folder on the right top side-click it and check "Disable front panel detection".Hope this helps.

So I went into BIOS and enabled the sound. Now it says that no speakers or headphones are plugged in. My Realtek device manager has disapeared.

How are your speakers connected? Are your monitor/speakers connected via the green connector at the back as I said, even so double check,I need to know.

If you connect your monitor or speakers to an Ipod or MP3 player sound should come from them,I'd like you to confirm that they're actually working if possible at some point but first-

    1. Go to control panel, sound there should be an option speakers and headphones/realtek,right click and set as default communication device,if you wish click test and follow the on screen instructions.

Do you have sound did the test produce sound?

If not download and install this driver

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...OSFullname=Windows+7+(64-bit)*&ProductID=3143

Do you have audio now?If not-

Check device manager audio properties for exclamation marks post results, then follow 1. again and let me know how you get on.

Hang in there I think we're almost there:-D

OK I now have sound through my HDMI to my TV. This is awesome! Thank you so much! I just don't have sound to my speakers. They are plugged in properly, I checked. Green jack in the back. No other options show up in the device manager for sound even when I select "Show disabled" and "show Disconnected"

No problem, its hard for me to help your further if I don't know what you have done though:confused If you have installed the intel HDMI audio driver that could have caused the hdmi to work but i'm just guessing

Everything I have posted so far is to get the soundcard working and then I was gonna move to the HDMI,have you set the HDMI as the default communication device?

If your happy with that then fine but if you'd like to get your soundcard working as well read on-

I'll need more info:) Specifically what audio devices your have in control panel/sound,have you tried enabling speakers/headphones/realtek audio as per my suggestion, what were the results? Is the device even there?

If the sound hasn't worked from out of the box, you might have a hardware problem (sound chip non functioning). No amount of tweaking is going to fix this. That's why I advised take it back.

I did install the driver you suggested and thats why I'm getting sound through my HDMI as I set that as my default device. I am quite happy with that so thank you very much for your help

I am starting to think I have a hardware issue. But since the hdmi sound works now I am happy. I use my flat screen as a second monitor so any games I play I will be playing using the tv. As soon as I get a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I tried to do what you said and there is no realtek in there. All I found was the front panel and it keeps saying that nothing is plugged in. The HDMI does work though. I have two labels for high definition audio now and one has a yellow exclamation mark. It says "Code 10" as it did before. I set the HDMI as the default device because it was the only other device shown besides Headphone and Mic. Thats why I tried it out. If I have monitor speakers I can't find them. I tried HDMI to the monitor and still no sound so I don't think have monitor speakers

Ahh right, well if you want to test your soundcard you can connect a set of ipod or mp3 player headphones to the green output at the back to see if audio is coming out.

You can also try installing the realtek driver I point you to a few posts back.

But that's up to you,as long as your happy:)
