Does anyone know where to download a fairly up to date chart for processor order and speeds ?

Also how do you tell the age of a computer ??? Looked all over no dates on computer tags.rolleyes

If it's a windows 7 PC you may not have this line 'mine doesn't'

Type cmd in the search box and hit return, in the command prompt type

    systeminfo

And press return, about 10 lines down is the original installation date, this will work with older computers to if you can't find the line in the system information tool.

Thanks but that's not quite it.

I repair computers as a hobby business. I have a chart that shows the Processor (Celeron, PIII, P 4 etc) and behind it it would show number of transistor , CPU speed standard RAM cache, and Bus speed. It was great when I had questions... Unfortunately it only went up to Pentium 4.
    Cannot find anything like it.

While at a flea market someone asked me when the computer was made... looked all over for a manufacturing date none

Do you want a program that identifies a cpu then?

I like to use Sandra lite.

It has all the information in the cpu information test, the only thing it doesn't have is transistor count,I don't know of a chart that compares the transistor count of all CPU's ever in production, there's a small one on wikipedia with a broad sample.

I see, well another alternative which doesn't involved turning the computer on or taking the cpu heatsink off is to check the motherboard model/service number at the manufacturers website.

Intel has a cpu chart also,is this the chart you meant?

    http://www.intel.com/pressroom/kits/quickreffam.htm

Found this at wiki for AMD,you have to click the cpu model type though to see the date.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_processors

As far as I can see AMD doesn't have a chart with a list of dates at their site.
