thisisu is awesome!! you rock!!

I had given up hope of starting up my computer after running NPE. I spent 2 days trying everything, including contacting Norton support (who asked me to re-install Windows 7) and finally resorted to the MajorGeeks forum. I have to admit this is the first forum I have joined (never was tempted to join any other forum even though I had run into other computer issues before).

As soon as I posted my problem, "thisisus" quickly responded to my problem, guided me and provided a custom fix. The fix worked and I was able to restart my computer and get back to business. I had some recent pictures of my family that I had not backed up to an external disk and was very sad that I was going to loose them.

My heartfelt thanks to "thisisus" who is simply awesome!!!!!!!!!! You rock!!

I now know that I am not alone and can always come back to this forum when I need some advice or run into any issues.

thisisu, sorry for the typo in your name. I have still not run the TDRSkiller yet. My Winzip expired on my computer, so I have to purchase a new one, before I can extract it and run it.. Will do that soon and send you the log.

Laura, DavidGP, dyamond: I have learnt my lesson. I will first come to MajorGeeks forum before I try doing anything and getting myself in to trouble. I have added you all to my Contacts list. I already sent this forum link to my colleagues at work and friends.

7 Zip works just as good as Winzip and it's free!

Mucho gracias!! I downloaded 7 zip (nice to get a free one) and ran TDRSKiller...Scan showed no threats...So, I hope I am set for now. Previously, when I browsed, I would see a Norton OK symbol next to each result set. I do not see that now. I used to use that to decide whether to click on a link or not. Would anyone know how to get that back?
