    Apologies for posting here.
Not sure where one posts with a query.
My machine is an AMD Realtek Gigabit LAN for win7, I have loaded XP, is there a way to get a driver for my XP as the driver supplied is for Win7.

Re: Realtek onboard LAN Driver problem

You should really have started a new thread.

What is the make and model of your computer if oem or the make and model of your motherboard?

Re: Realtek onboard LAN Driver problem

I do apologise but have no idea how to start a new thread?
The processor is as follows AMD Athlon II x4 640
The only problem now is the LAN, the wireless LAN works fine.
Thank you for responding, & thanks in advance.
    Regards

Re: Realtek onboard LAN Driver problem

I do not need the processor. What I need is either the make and model of the computer or the make and model of the motherboard if you built the computer so I can determine what LAN chip you have.

Edit: You can also download and run Speccy and attach the report as a text file. Before you attach the file, remove your Windows key from the report.

Re: Realtek onboard LAN Driver problem

Here are the drivers for the RTL8111. Install in an admin account.

    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1

Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1489506) is a self-installing driver in exe format.

You could also download this driver. Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Driver 7.053 2012/3/22 740k You would have to update the driver from Device Manager by right clicking the device and selecting properties. Then under the driver tab, select update driver. You have to unzip the file and point to the inf file in either the 32bit or 64bit folder.

I would create a restore point first and also create a System Recovery Disk.

    Hi

Could try this one its an 8111DP multi OS installer from Realtek, although in some instances while the model code is the same OEM makers such as Medion will custom spect the chips supplied by the likes of Realtek to suit their purpose, thus at times these chips and the drivers can be OS specific and you may not find one.

8111DP DASH All-In-One installation kit for WinXP/Vista/Win7 HERE

Full driver page is HERE and if that one above doesnt work try the one above it in the list (WinXP, Win2K, Win2003 Auto Installation Program (SID:1489505))

I've looked in the installer files of the above two and the hardware lds they cover and while yours is not listed it may be a match for another, worth a try though.

Well, I am really getting older than I thought. I looked at your post saying AMD Realtek Gigabit LAN for win7 but you have XP, and it's even in the title of your post. For some reason it stuck in my head you had Windows 7. Sorry about that. :-o

If DavidGP's drivers do not work, try the following. I do not think DriverSweeper detects Ethernet Drivers but give it a try as falconattack suggested. But, do not delete your sound driver by accident if you have a Realtek sound chip.

    WinXP, Win2K, Win2003 Auto Installation Program (SID:1489505)

There is also a zip file with the driver only that you can update through Device Manager
    WinXP and WinServer 2003 Driver 5.794 2012/3/22 705k

Sorry for the confusion on my part.

The yellow mark did show up initially.
I uninstalled it & it no longer shows in the dev. manager.
Have tried installing other dvr.with help from you chaps but in each instance have had no luck, message usually being that the device was not functional.
My head is saying give up but my heart says that bloody thing should work.
    Wireless installed without any problems.

Not sure if this is the problem but in BIOS make sure that onboard LAN is enabled.

Did you try to install this driver?

    WinXP, Win2K, Win2003 Auto Installation Program (SID:1489505)
    5.794 2012/3/22 5639k

Edit: If you go here and enter your serial number, you may find a better LAN driver for your computer.

    I did and several others.
I will check the BIOS after this post.

CHECKED AND THE YELLOW ICON SHOWED UP AFTER MY TURNING IT ON.
However it said that another driver was functioning and when I uninstalled a rebooted... nothing.
    Thanks for all the effort.

UNABLE TO, TODAY AS I AM NOT WITH THE PROBLEM MACHINE.
On another tangent, could you tell me what a RAID controller is & does?

I am not that familiar with RAID. There are different RAID configurations. Mainly used for redundancy if case one drive fails, another can be swapped out and date is retained. But for the home user RAID 0 (no redundancy) is usually used for increased performance. You can get a good idea of what it is here.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to stay sane.
My friend sent me a video & on playing it got an almost black screen with shadows for an image.
Tried checking settings on the various players on my machine & all have the same effect.
All jpegs are fine, tried different screen res. to no avail.
    The video was fine Sat.
    Any ideas?
    Regards

There could be any number of reasons for this including a corrupted codec or hardware problem. The video could have also been corrupted when during transfer. But, I would start a new thread for this problem as it is unrelated to the LAN Driver issue. It would have a better chance of somebody else seeing it and possibly solving the problem.
