Windows vista window.old-windows.old.000 etc

I have a dell laptop running windows vista home premium ed. I got it online and did every update it had, and now the hard drive has almost no freespace(150gbhd, 9gb free....) and there is a windows folder, a windows.old, a windows.old.000, and a windows.old.001 folder. Each worth about 25 gigs give or take.

Do I need all the windows folders? Why so many? Is there anything in them I need to keep? What is the proper way to delete them?

these files is from previous installation , you must delete them !! :wave

 

This is incorrect. The .old folders can be used to restore the computer to a previous installation. They do not have to be removed but usually are removed once you are satisfied that the current installation is OK

If the OP has not done any additional installs, they should be deleted. They serve no purpose to most people.
