Quick question, if I have the latest drivers installed for a video card do I still need to manually install Direct X itself into Windows?

This is for a gaming computer.

That depends on the game, it's requirements and the version of DirectX you currently have installed.

Diablo 3 (currently the BETA) and I don't have any version of Direct X installed right now. I am wondering if I installed Direct X would I get better performance?

I'm not a gamer at all so I couldn't tell you. I don't think DirectX effects performance, it's more like a codec for video.

You have to have DX installed...it is built into the most recent versions of Microsoft Windows.

I see, myth busted. Thanks for the information. I am not to smart when it comes to this kind of stuff. I am just going to update it and see if that helps. Thanks again.

Go to start then run and type
    Code:
    dxdiag
You'll get a popup. Say yes and more info than you need will appear in several tabs about Directx. The last line on the system tab will show you the version that is installed.
