    Hello,

SO i just bought a new computer, unfortunately when I plug my headset into the front panel jacks, 1) the mic does not work and 2) the headphones do not play the voice-track properly for music. So essentially, all I hear out of the headphones is the instrumental and sometimes the voice-track of background singers. The main voice-track is very very quiet and sounds almost tinny.

Now, I have my 5.1 speakers plugged into the back panel, these work absolutely fine. All 5 speakers work and the music and voice-track plays like heaven.

I've tried messing around with the settings in my Realtek HD Audio Manager, but to no avail. Admittedly, I'm not sure what many of the functions do.

Can anyone offer me some assistance?

    Thanks in advance,
    G

If it's a new PC that's under warranty, I would take it back to the seller to be fixed. It sounds like the front ports are either defective or not connected correctly to the motherboard.

    Hope this helps. :)

Thanks, I will use that as a last resort when all else fails -- I'm trying to avoid lugging my computer back to the company right now.

I'm really hoping its just some setting that I've used/not used.

Although I'm sure you're able to work on connctions inside the PC, this is a time I wouldn't. Some builders/manufacturers will attempt to use it as an excuse to void your warranty. :(

    Hello,

Okay, I have the solution for the sound part now. Apparently my motherboard's soundcard manager is... not very well designed, to say the least. I have to set it to "stereo" and then go to the DTS ultra PC II tab and enable. Basically every time i plug or unplug my headset, I have to manually turn settings on/off. Apparently, this audio manager doesn't know how to save profiles (speaker vs. headset). That or I just don't know how.

So, now for problem #2: mic still isn't working. Any suggestions?
