Hi, I'm a new user the the forums and need help removing malware fro my PC.
My PC is a ZTSYSTEMS, i7 293GHz, 8GB RAM, one HDD with three partitions, Win7 sp1.

A couple of weeks ago, I started noticing much heavier HDD activity, even when the PC was not working on a task. At
times the screen would freeze, or the PC would take several minutes to boot. Sometimes during pointless heavy HDD
activity nothing else on the PC works, no keyboard or mouse.

I've scanned the HDD using SpyBot, MS Essentials, AVAST freeware, but have only found many tracking cookies.
A few days ago, I uninstalled Google Chrome thinking it had become corrupt. Still experiencing the problems described
above. Finally did a system restore from date 6/13/12. The PC is running better.
A few days ago did a Google search for Chrome dl sites. One of the top three sites was -

    http://google-chrome.todownload.com/?gclid=CLreieHa2rACFYje4AodDCLtzQ
(check out the Privacy policy, Terms of Use and Uninstall)

At first glance it appears to be a legitimate website. However, I noticed an application progress bar running before the
Chrome dl started. Now I need to remove the ToDownload Manager but I can't find it I've searched add/remove programs, msconfig startup and services still can't find it.

Cannot find references ToDownload in google or yahoo searches.

ToDownload Manager. is clearly malware. How can I delete it?

Uninstall from the website is useless:

    How to uninstall the product?

    Click "Start"
    Click on "Control Panel"
Double click "Add or Remove Programs" from the "Control Panel" window.
Click on product you want to remove, then click "Remove/Uninstall."
Click "Yes" to confirm the uninstallation.

Thanks for the helpful reply. REVO looks like a very useful progra. I'll dl it.
Last night I booted into safe mode then was able to delete WIDGI using SpyBot.

I'm not sure if it's the TODOWNLOAD malware. TODOWNLOAD is outrageous!
did you read excerpts of their privacy policy I posted? or their useless uninstall statement?

Is there an Internet governing body I can alert re: TODOWNLOAD?

    Thanks again.
