When I was paying my witchdoctor, I mean my chiropractor, I saw a sign for the Intelliskin. Was curious about it. Probably cheaper buying from the source instead of a retail place like said witchdoctor.

Have any of you seen or used this product?

My concern would be it would weaken muscles needed to naturally support yourself.

Pretty much a $100 lycra based shirt. Wondering if any of you have any experience with it.

Looks a bit pricey. Have you looked at Academy or Sports Authority to see if they carry anything similar to this? If I'm going to experiment with something that expensive, I'd rather buy it at a store with a decent return policy if it turns out to be a piece of s**t.

If you have lower back pain (and don't care about making a fashion statement), a safety lifting back belt (or whatever they're called) works well for me when I'm doing outdoor work - they're about $15 at Northern Tool or Harbor Freight.

I have dealt with back pain for 20 something years. And have never tried the inexpensive back brace. Am told those are good for short term use. It does take some time to get used to the Intelliskin. And I don't sell, it, just decided to try it.

I have worn it for most of the day. I have no back pain at all. Very interesting thing, the Intelliskin. It does take time to get used to, it seems to make you correct your posture.

No drugs, no pain, I am speechless, but skeptical. Is this thing doing good, or is it perhaps doing bad things over all?

Will update over the next few weeks. My only question is if it is making other muscles weak.

It is not cheap, but then neither are the monthly Chiro visits, and OTC drugs.

Hey Fred, this is just an idea and has nothing to do with the intelliskin thing really, glad it's working for you, I've suffered back pain as well for many years now. But as well as whatever things you try to help resolve and alleviate the discomfort, you might want to look at what you are wearing on your feet, back, hip, knee pain is frequently caused or exacerbated by poor or simply the wrong type of foot ware, maybe not the wrong type but not the correct support, whether it be sandals, runners, boots, lofers etc etc.
For example, if your feet require lets say a 1/2" arch support and you don't have that in your shoe (you may think you have but possibly not) , every time you take a step your foot falls to the inside (can also fall to the outside with too much support), as your foot falls inwards, your arch flatens, which in turn twists your ankle, whereby your knees twist to take the pressure off your ankles and then your lower-middle back if then being pulled outwards.
The same thing can be said for too much support or simply feet rolling outwards.
Sometimes something as simple as a $40 Birkenstock half insole in your boots is enough to correct your alignment which then brings your joints into true motion and relieves the pressure off your back.
Whether you have an "issue" is dependant, it can simply mean different footware or proper inserts.
If you would like to research this theory the terminology is Over-Pronation for falling inwards and Under- pronation for outwards.
To see if any of this is true look at the ware pattern on your main shoes/boots.
It should wear from the outside quater of the heel, through in a diagonal line to the ball of your foot and then off the big toe.
Excessive wear on the outside means you are walking on the outside of your feet (Under pronation) or what we used to call, "Bow legged", which is nasty, stops your bodys natural shock absorbsion and twists your ankles, knees and hips forwards and out.
If the wear is on the inside then it's the opposite (Over pronation) or as we used to call it "Knock knee'd" which twists all your joints inward and back.
Both create significant issues for the back.

This is just a suggestion, it's obviously hard for me to say just from my chair here lol, but trust me when I say I have witnessed and been thanked, hugged, kissed, lunch bought, coffees brought in to me etc etc from people who have suffered back pain for years and tried all kinds of different things and yet got the most relief from simply being advised to wear the correct support on their feet.
Your feet are the foundation on your body, think of them no different to house foundations or tires on your car, they take all the impact and govern how staright you walk and run.
Feel free to ask me any questions or research it yourself, I just thought I'd throw the idea your way as a fellow back pain sufferer.

By the way, I went from chiropractor frequently (which I love lol) to a $100 pair of Nike's and I can honestly say the Nikes have had more long term effect.
Put both together and I'm 90% cured.
Although not been to popcorn therapy for a while now lol
I'm about due, the last couple of weeks my shoes have started losing support and my back is getting tighter, although I'm sure the weight lifting stuff has been helping as well as hindering :-D

Edit: By the way, I do not recommend gel insoles, while they may feel good, they simply offer extra cushion which doesn't really "Fix" an issue, it's what I call a "Duct tape" solution. I'm sure you know what I mean by that :-D

Thanks for the info Ned. What is popcorn therapy? Your Chiro? I just get stretches sometimes and maybe a message or some shock therapy.

Good info on the shoes, in the past, I have had the wrong shoes, and it does cause knee/back pain. Unfortunately for me, it is a physical problem. Three, (I think I am remembering correctly) of the vertebrae were fused together at some point on my spine causing spinal curvature. So, my options are surgery (can't afford it, and don't like the idea, even though it has been a long time since they told me what they would do, I am sure some progress has been made...), drugs (not a fan of drugs for pain unless it is just temporary, like dental work, or something), or what I am trying now, which is part chiro, and trying this and a lot of stretches.

Dang shirt is way too expensive. The shirt is not a brace, but it does 'encourage' you to keep proper posture. So far, except the price, I am liking the results. My only concern would be weakening other muscles, but I don't think it does that.

I have only had it for a week, and it does take some getting used to.

Sounds like you have similar to myself, I have a hereditary curved spine, trapped sciatic nerve, trapped nerve in my neck and the beginnings of arthritis in my neck. Same things offered, well surgery isn't one of them because it's hereditary it's major surgery for little effect apparently, drugs I'm with you there, prefer to deal with the back issues than have to deal with all the things the drugs will break while fixing my back lol.
Popcorn therapy (yes chiropractor lol) works wonders and fortunately I am to the point where I only need to go once every few months, although it's been over a year now.
I still have pain everyday but as you well know, you get used to it after so many years.

Interesting to see how this thing works for you over the course of a month or so, you seem to be quite concerned with weakening mucles.
My biggest problem is posture as well, the missus has found a 5 minute stretchercises to do every morning to help with posture. I would also buy some shoes that help but they are pricey. I don't know if you have heard of Sketchers Shape Ups?
Well the original idea of those was arguably from MBT or Clarks way back in the 60's-70's, they don't help you lose weight or anything but because of the rocker form sole and super chushion they force you to walk upright, which in turn corrects your posture, I tell you though they feel weird for the first 30 minutes or so, they work well, I felt the pressure ease about 60% in the first hour while testing them, but they also make you strut :-D which suits me obviously :-D

Keep us updated on your progress, I'm curious to see how it goes.... which makes you my Guinea pig :-D

OK, you asked.... I don't like the Tank top one. I have had it less than a week, and it bunches up at the collar, and is not comfortable around the arms. Now, that said, it does work. But the basic foundation shirt is overall more comfortable.

Any ideas on why that is? I would think a modified version with shorter sleeves might work better.

Any ideas on the Tank version not fitting would be appreciated.

    Hi Fred_G

Thanks for the feedback. As for why the Tank is bunching up and not fitting they way you like, unfortunately everyone's body is different and shirts that fit some people perfect may not fit others at all. That being said part of the reason that we have the different versions is to find one that fits you best, the tank unfortunately will never be as good as the Foundation because you lose a lot of area with the sleeves that allow the Foundation to work (also in my experience it helps to keep the collar down). Also it could be that a different size tank might fit better for you, If your not happy with your tank please give our customer service a call @ (949)797-2813 and well try to work something out for you

    Thanks
    Your Friends @ Intelliskin

Hehehe...popcorn therapy. All I have to do with my flexible back is turn to the left and to the right quickly...popcorn it is. :D I like that analogy, Ned!

I think the IntelliSkin looks cool! I wouldn't mind trying it. Is it good for work therapy?

Well, a little update here. I picked up something I knew I should not have, and hurt my back. It is getting better. I have been wearing the Intelliskin for 3 days now, pretty much 24 hours a day. I hurt my upper back, by previous problems were more mid/lower back.

Cons: Expensive, $100 or more per shirt is pricey. Minor skin irritation, mainly around the shoulders. Could be I got the wrong size, but I doubt it, just think due to what it does, you will have some irritation. Hot, wearing 2 shirts in the south this time of year... Thankfully the printer we use needs serious cooling.

Pros: Mid and lower back pain are gone, well, greatly minimized, as the upper back pain may mask some of the other pains. My lower back feels more flexible. It seems to be helping with the recent injury as well. I am impressed with the product, seems to do what it says it will do.

Besides the minor irritation, it really just makes me improve my posture. If you have back pain, it would be a good thing to look into in my opinion, ask your doctor about it.

Durability is a question, as it is a lycra type item, I wonder how long this $100 shirt will last.

Gets a Fred_G thumb$ up. Hate the price (have to hand wash, so would need several to wear daily).

Oh, and if the Intelliskin person is still here, how about not using white thread on the black ones. Just use black thread, you know, so it blends in more under a shirt... ;)
