I am looking to see if anyone can help repairing an outlook pst file.

The computer crashed and now outlook wont start.

I am running scanpst.exe but it seems to hang on stage 8. Could be it will take hours and hours but since it hasn't moved in an hour I am guessing its dead.

I know Stellar makes a good product but seriously I do not want to pay $150.00 for a tool that I have not needed in 15 years. I wish they offered a one time fee to repair the file and done.

Its my fault because I never back up the appdata because I didn't think anything important was in there.

    sigh.

I don't know why everybody is trying to tell the o/p to use scanpst, when s/he has a problem with running scanpst...?

Please tell us what Outlook version you are running.
Also tell us the size of your PST file, and is it a 97-2000 file type, or a 2003 type.
Have you applied all available updates for your Office installation?

psst, pwillener these are spammers. (clue is that a thread from 2011 was dug up to offer a "suggestion").

I see; didn't notice that... (I noticed the other topic, also from 2011.)

I am not sure why this old topic was brought back and I hope someone wasn't implying I am a spammer since I have used this forum for a long time.

I was able to get the scanpst.exe to finally work. I turned off all my other processes and just let it run over night and it was fixed. God only knows how many hours it actually took to fix.

Hi, no they aren't referring to you. They are referring to a spam post that I am about to delete. :)

Glad you got your problem sorted.
