Ipod - volume of individual songs

I'm a fitness instructor and I use an Ipod, loaded with songs I've downloaded from itunes - When I'm teaching a class, I'm constantly having to adjust the volume from one song to the next...some songs come up very loud and need to be turned down, others I have to turn up....it's getting tiresome ! and it certainly doesn't do anything for professionalism....especially during cycle-fit when I have to keep getting off the bike to adjust the volume. Would you know if there is a setting on Itunes that I have to set, or hopefully on my ipod ??? I might have understood if the songs were pirated, but they are not....

I have eliminated the possibility of it being from the sound system at the gym I teach at because other instructors do not have this issue - however they are still using CDs.

I look forward to any suggestions you may have....

 

There is a setting inside itunes for normalization, its under file preferences, then the playback tab, Sound check should be the option you want.

 

Thank you so much !!!!!!! I found it and clicked it....I'm hoping all I have to do now is sync my ipod again...or will this normalization now only work on new songs as I download them? I'm off to re-sync and hope when I get to the gym and hook it up that will fix the problem...gain, thank you thank you thank you !

 

Its a global settings. So new songs should be affected as well.
