I have read the malware removal guide & the don't bump thread. Also answer as to how to remove this virus. Here is where I get stuck.

My pc is a toshiba satellite, with windows xp home edition I don't know if its 32 bit or 64 bit. Read link on how to find out which one it is but the" please wait while connection is beeing established." prevents this.
Computer skills limited & thats being generous. After reading several links about this virus I bought a finger drive " scan disk" to use. I also have another computer, a mac for downloading and reading replies.

any help ( step by step) would be appreciated

    thanks

    I downloaded the kaspersky
http://rescuedisk.kaspersky-labs.com/rescuedisk/updatable/rescue2usb.exe and kav_rescue_10.iso (~236 MB) from the Kaspersky Lab server. to usb

tried running recued2usb.. all that happens is alot of text shows up. tried running
them in my other computer that is a mac. Does this make a difference. Tried inserting the usb in my pc and pressing F8 got the start up menu list. tried using debugging nothing happen except the virus screen showed up. any suggestion other than a large hammer.

If I understand correctly you are wanting to see what file system your flash drive has. I'm almost positive yours is FAT32 but if you want to double-check, here is how but it requires a computer that is already booting successfully.

    Insert the flash drive
Go to My Computer => Determine which device is your flash drive => Right-mouse click on the Flash drive => Properties => Look for "File system:"

It may be easier for you to burn the kav_rescue_10.iso as an image to a blank CD. Remember it has to be burned as an image. Read: Using ImageBurn to Burn an ISO image

Let me know how you manage and if you need additional assistance.
