    hi friends
i have a dell inspiron with the gs45 chipset, as best I can tell.. model is a variant of the inspiron 1121; m101z, some form of intel hd embedded graphics part. don't know the exact nomenclature as have not been able to find yet.
win7 x64. everything works sorta, except HDMI, which is a big deal to me.
won't have a device without from here on.

the dell website only shows driver from earlier 2011. their tech support not much help.
anyone know of a much later, i.e. 2012

no offense taken. if they didn't intend for it to work they shouldn't put the physical feature on it.
I spent WAY too long with dell support on chat today and the very unqualified rep, and his manager, were both baffled. had no clue how to debug.
I got this one for this reason, to see how it stacks up against my thinkpad x120e. other than the fact that it doesn't work :-D it stacks up ok in other areas.... but I sure wouldn't swap. ATI Radeon spoilt me

unfortunate that the link is x86, not x64

    thx

    yep, had that.

Got it sorta limping along with this one: Win7Vista_64_152254
For some reason would not load the Windows 8 driver set just released.

I had to force uninstall the video adapter, a step I did not think would matter, reboot, thankfully win7 picked up generic vga driver. Then I was able to point it to the above.

is this hdwe or software or firmware: the clumsy steps necessary are that when I flip the mode switch to any of the three settings other than default/onboard display, I have to turn off the monitor [this is a good one... asus vh226] and power back on. similarly, If I log out and back in, same drill, and if I Restart, the onboard display will blank at the appropriate point but again, will not sync unless I reset. This is not true of my other two notebooks [one thinkpad x120e/ati and the other an older asus with gforce 9600gs]. This will not be possible to use with one of my other displays, a samsung ips 26", because it has a way-short timeout... like you gotta get sync'd in about two seconds flat or it reverts. i can't make my hands work that fast.

amazing that a company as rich as intel cannot get out of the primitive stage in this game. I SURE hope AMD are paying that ATI crowd handsomely.

    any other suggestions?

For the GS45, I only found this intel driver for 64bit. Maybe run the chipset software but doubt that would help. Other than that, I can't come up with anything else.

Woah, woah woah. No one should be interfering when the first response has not been answered. I gave you the most recent generic driver and there was a 64 bit link. If that does not work, you have the latest drivers. If you didnt click the 64 bit download link then what can I say. I gave you the correct and only possibility in one simple post and now I am wasting my time when others need help.

So you can ignore Tgell, who KNOWS BETTER since I sent you a link to our mirror of the OFFICIAL LATEST drivers from Intel and we are done. Dont ever ****ing step on my toes again Tgell as all you did here was confuse the op. Had you paid attention, rather than trying to be Mr know it all, you would have seen my link is NEWER and had a 64 bit link.

We have other people here who need help and people stepping on others and IGNORING the directions we gave them originally is becoming a serious waste of my time.
