    Plans?? Anyone?

Tonight will be a laid back one here for me and mine (as of now, anyway...that can change on a moments notice!)

Tomorrow I have a dinner party to go to, so if anyone has a good side dish recipe for corn, please let me know.

Now that brings me back to my childhood!! Mrs. Paul's frozen corn fritters. We'd have them with pork chops. My parents would put maple syrup on them. roflmao

I'm thinking something a little more, um, summery...and not fried. LOL

Yeah, had them as a kid also. Can't think of anything else you can do with corn.

:) Thanks anyway, Tim. I'm sure I'll find something.

    Any plans?

Sigh. I work Saturday; Sunday will be the usual domestic stuff including attempting to get rid of the weeds (for about the tenth time this year) in the back yard. :zzz

If we got rid of all our weeds in the yard, there'd be nothing left.:cry They are the only thing that likes the heat and drought.

Oh, and on that note, my husband was saying he saw an article about people spraying their grass green in drought areas to make it look nice and healthy. I've seen that playing golf, but never in people's yards.

    Here ya go:-;)

    http://allrecipes.com/recipes/side-dish/vegetables/corn/top.aspx

I've been up all night with joint pains and insomnia, (damn, I hate old age!), so I decided to cook chicken soup, smoked ham hocks, pickled a heap of onion, garlic and chillies and so forth. (Yes I am a Redneck, lol!).

Your garden sounds like mine. my lawn has turned into half a meter of weeds, but at least they are green LOL. remember my fruit crop efforts? :neener

Well, it's now Saturday, down-under - so Friday has come, been and gone. Guess I'll be wed whacking today and finishing planting my Lime tree, Bay leaf tree, garlic and onion bulbs, and flower bulbs. Told my g/f I was planting bulbs and she said, "uh?...you are plating light bulbs??:confused, (she was serious, too!). So I just said yeah, they are Christmas trees - complete with light bulbs, when they grow up they are turning into street lamps.:confused (She's blond, too....LOL.)

Okay, so I meant to say weed whacking. It's definitely been a long night for me! :p

    That always sounds good...then I can't sleep past 7:30 or 8am!!

Hey Adryn:) Good to see you, dude. Hope school is going well and that you had a good bday.

Nice! I'll be looking at those. Gotta come up with something tomorrow. Our fresh corn is incredible right now.

    motc?? roflmao

    errmmm...that was a crop?? heh

Hey! After seeing your orange crop, I can't say I blame her! :-D

For a change, Friday actually means time off for me! :-D I'm at my niece's house tonight, then tomorrow morning we get up way early to be part of the human shield between the Westboro Baptist Church and the funeral of a local Marine killed in combat. Then we hit the farmer's market, and then it's off for vacation for a week!

We've rented the biggest cabin (the one they call the Chalet) for the week at http://www.ellislakeresort.com/. Me, my niece, her husband, and the kids (6, 5 and 3). These are the adopted beautiful babies some of you may remember. I cannot wait. :-D

By the way, maybe http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/corn-casserole-0? It's not necessarily summery, but it's really tasty! Instead of canned corn, use kernels from 2-3 ears.

Westboro is still at it, huh? :( An organization no one should be proud to belong to.

The vacay sounds awesome, Beth! Have a blast with the family. I bet the kids will have so much fun.:)

Yeah, they're still at it. But at last count, we are supposed to be about 4,000 on our side in attendance. Which apparently makes this the largest turnout against them (by a LOT...their biggest so far was about 700), and Westboro has taken it off their list. :-D Seems this incredibly conservative, really religious area is having none of their nonsense. The theory is that we have scared them off, and that works. We'll all still be there for the family.

We are SO looking forward to this vacation! We aren't planning to leave the complex for any reason, so it's going to be eight days of sitting in the woods by the lake. They even have wi-fi! LOL

Just the normal weekend crap except

    - Go out to dinner Saturday evening with the oldest daughter's fiancee's folks.
    - Go up to son-in-law's family house for a belated birthday dinner for him.

So no cooking/grilling for me this weekend which suits me just fine.;)

Oh yeah, I do have to work on my mom's car but hopefully it's only a vacuum leak somewhere amongst all the damn lines on her engine.:(

I'm glad you put up Spoiler Alert!!:-D

No cooking sounds great. I don't have to cook either....cept corn. Gotta figure that out still.

A beautiful Saturday morning and a perfect day to go wack a white ball around a manicured strip of grass and try to get it into a little round hole.:-D

Well I''ll be working today and probably arguing with my boss over working tomorrow, then tomorrow I will be cutting up my new PC case so I can put window and shiny stuff in it :-D
I'm very excited about this :)

Hope your dinner plans go well Laura, unfortunately I don't know much about corn, if I lived 6 miles North I would know since they have Cornfest every year, but not really my thing.

I hate corn, unless it is popcorn. :-D

I can't believe those westboro people are still around. I am all for the 1A, but also believe some people just deserve an arse kicking.

As far as the weekend, I am going to eat some Chick Fil-A Spicy Chicken hate sandwiches, do some shooting at the range, then clean the house and entertain Max.

And sleep until I wake up Sunday.... Usually an hour or so later than usual, but it is nice to be able to sleep until I want to get up, instead of that evil alarm.

Ooooo....have fun with your PC case, Ned. Nice shiny toys are awesome. :-D

Thanks Phantom. I've decided to just cut the corn off and saute it in diced red peppers, Fresh Jalapeno, Jicama, fresh garlic and some bacon. :)

That's just wrong, Fred. You and my 13 year old daughter!

I was going to do sleep until I wake this morning, but my sister's yorkie decided to wake me at 6am. :cry

I went and played golf and my group won the tournament, so the waking early worked out.

Now off to shuck some corn.

    Have a great Saturday everyone.:)

:-D:-D I love your sense of humor. Reminds me of this great picture I saw someone posted on fb. It was a picture of their Chic-fil-A sandwich and some fries, they captioned it "mmm hate & bigotry never tasted so good" :-D

Weekend so far is meh, spent last night and today trying to figure out what's wrong with the laptop now.. so fun..rolleyes

Tonight however, going over a girl friends house and we are gonna bake something tasty and stuff our faces. :yum LOL

I get my Chik Fil-A sandwiches with extra 1A. :-D I saw a picture of someone supporting or protesting CFA holding a sign that said 'Don't be a Chick-Fil-A-hole'. Thought that was pretty funny.

7 days too late for this but I'm going to relax, just installed Windows 8 RTM on one netbook and WOW... 15mins install to working OS, then super quick in boot as in 10 seconds for a underpowered samsung N110 1.6ghz atom, 2gb ram.

Will do desktop next weekend as I have more time and need to backup stuff first.

Other than that I'm deleting spammers or potential spammers and reviewing posts in Software, Drivers and Hardware.
