dvds to tivo or HD

I have a tivo series 2 and a tivo Premier and about 400 dvds

How do I get my dvds to be saved on my tivo HDs so I can access them fast and dont have to mess with cleaning dvds or finding dvds or anything related to dvds

TiVo, DirecTV, Dish and cable DVRs use a proprietary, copyright encoded file system for recording. As such, you cannot transfer your own DVDs to the DVR hard drive.

Your best option is to transfer the DVDs onto a PC with one or more very large hard drives (keeping in mind a standard-def DVD of a movie may be as large as 8GB per disc) and using a Roku or similar device to stream the movies from your PC to the TV.

 

I was thinking routes

play the dvd on the tv and manually record the program via tivo

play on the computer and save the file on an external HD, that I then can hook up to the tivo


the goal is to access the movies fast, not needing my computer or wifi. or I could play then movies on my computer, save the to an external HD, then play them on the tv via a hdmi cord connection to the TV-computer


I dont really want to sit and watch all the movies play, so Im looking for a fast way to do this.
I find it hilarious that I cannot manipulate the stuff I own do what I want, but I also can't eat/ingest/smoke what I want in the privacy of my own home.
and Im supposed to pay to others who dont study, work hard, make smart choices.....yes, this country is the awesome.:wave
