I recently picked up a copy of "The Price of Inequality", by Joseph Stiglitz.

I'm halfway through it, and I've got to say it's the best book I've read in a decade. Nobel Laureate, and smart guy to boot. It feels kind of good when you read a new book by an academic, and you hear echoes of your own writing denouncing extreme neoliberal policy and "laissez-faire" capitalism which exercises political power via moneyed interests in legislative and regulatory mandate in each chapter.

And, I think that was a run-on sentence...

Sadly never the time to read novels these days, more get the movie when its released if said book has one.

I spend my time sadly reading medical protocols and papers as well as our reseach docs, actually hopefully having one of my last tech reseach project collaborations published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, will link to it if its taken on and published.

I just wish I had the time to read books, even if they are where in electronic form as in Kindle, iPad or Windows Mobile/Windows 8 app, e-Reader format etc. Iknow I miss out greatly as paper is superb and last one read was one I have read 2 times in "Good Omens" By Neil Gainman and Terry Pratchett, if you have never read it.... do so as its funny as hell!

I'm in the middle of The Town by Chuck Hogan. Didn't realize until just now when I looked up the link that it was what that Ben Affleck movie was based on. LOL It's pretty darn good, if not exactly literature.

I read like a fiend, usually between 3-8 books a week depending on how busy work is. :-D

Something light to escape into for awhile.
Cheers on the future published paper David. (Although I don't think that would be up on my reading list.;))

Dont think it would be on many folks lists of good reads John :major

Its a medical tech thing to align images so that they are easily viewed for spotting disease and origin of said disease, kinda interesting to us but not to many. Good thing for my resume though :)

I've been trying to finish Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti that a friend loaned me but I've been just way too busy lately.

She needs it back soon (she's moving) and I don't think I'll finish in time, so now I'm gonna have to buy my own copy because it's really good and I just have to know what's going to happen. LOL

Good job on the soon to be published medical paper, David :cool. I would actually be interested in reading it. I'm no Doctor, but I did used to be a Nurse, (yeah, yeah, - let's move on!:p) I've written a few papers for various Thesis, (Physics, Chem, which were my majors) and they are not an easy undertaking, for sure.
Love Terry Pratchett's stuff, too. He creates whole new worlds and races, besides just a story, which I kind of like.:cool
About the only reading I've done lately, besides research on the 'net of course, are tech manuals for I.T. work.:heli

^^^ This.. I'm actually almost done. I do only get to read it about 15-20 mins a day on the bus (and what funny looks I get when I pull out my book!.. Yes people still do read actual books! :-D).

What book I'm going to read next I don't know, I bought a few this weekend so I guess we will see.

I think there is nothing better then a good solid book in your hands. None of those electronic book reading crap for me. :-D

Books I purchased; The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom (saw the movie few years back and always wanted to read the book), The Hades Factor by Robert Ludlum (funny thing is, this book is the first book in the Covert One series but it's the only book I haven't read yet), Two cheesy books - one's a reconcilation book about someone cheating (to be honest, this really isn't my kind of book, it will teach me to pay attention next time!) and one's about an Amish girl deciding if she wants to continue in the Amish ways (call me a dork but I really like reading books about the Amish LOL) and last but not least Operation Kronstadt by Harry Ferguson (It's a rather intriguing looking history book about rescuing Britain's greatest spy and I totally love anything to do with history!)

I also have some books that I bought/were given to me that I haven't touched yet (meaning I don't even know what they are about really lol). Not a fan by Kyle Idleman, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, Buried Prey & Stolen Prey by John Sanford.

So as you can I have a rather large selection, I just haven't had time really to read the way I want to. I'm starting to run out of shelves. :-D

Sounds like you have quite the TBR (To be read) list going there Dy. And no, I haven't heard of any of those books. :-D

    Do you watch "Breaking Amish"?
I hear you on the not having the time to read that you want.
Only starting to run out of shelves?!? I've ran out of shelves on both bookcases and have stacked books on top of the newest bookshelf (real wood too. :p) need to buy a new bookshelf.
