Not sure how my coworker found this article but he called me into his office and showed it to me, there was one part that was truly hilarous.

Even better were the comments at the end.

You'd think that they would at least take the time to proofread their news stories before putting them on the web. Are they really that much in a rush to be "the first one to get the story"? either way it's a great laugh for today. :-D Moral of the story is... proofread your stuff, don'y just rely on spell check! :-D

That is excellent! And I love that people played along in the comments, too! :-D

Although I'm trying to figure out what they might have actually meant, and coming up blank. LOL

It should say firearm but that reporter must have been typing at the speed of light to make such a typo. :-D

Cool! For $100 more, can I get one with the hooker dressed as a fireman? :-D

I had one the other week on the front page of the local council newspaper that read, in big. bold font - "Police Move on Farts Council". I thought, "huh?, this might be interesting", but it was apparently supposed to be "Arts Council".rolleyes Thing is, it was in large, bold print on the front page, no less. I mean, I know it's only a free local rag, but what were these guys smoking??....rolleyes

LoL at the free elven Fireman with every Ford. Guess that's the only way to sell a Ford these days. So, if I buy a blue pickup truck, do I get a free Policeman in the glove compartment or something? LOL.

    What? I re-read it like a 100 times. I don't see a typo? ( unless you sre just messing with me :-D )

Nah, who would expect a fireman to be a firearm? LOL

(Farts council LOL). I think you can choose any upgrade you want, just talk it over with Ford. :-D

Sigel was arrested after troopers confiscated more than $4,600, a bottle of codeine syrup with a scratched off label, and prescription pills wrapped in plastic bags, according to authorities.

The red comma removal is preference. It is a poorly formed sentence no matter what, but at least its readable this way.

Well I'm going to blame that typo on this tiny phone keyboard. :-D

As for the comma, I was looking for a misspelled word not a grammatical error. :p

I'm terrible about it on my cell when texting, but otherwise I'm pretty anal about it in any other format. (I do cut corners on forums, who doesn't use "LOL"?)

+1 on that and in business settings also.
(Takes too much time to be accurate, so why follow the rules?rolleyes)

I saw 2 or 3 errors on the Washington Post site yesterday just perusing the headlines.

I always take short cuts when texting. Unless autocorrect decides I'm being too lazy and completes the word for me, although a lot of the time it picks the wrong word. LOL

Proper English, punctuation, and all that when I text. ;)

I have read a few technical writings from my peers and no I cannot make this stuff up. I could not understand what they were trying to say half of the time.

The only real trouble I have with grammar is that I use WAY too many commas. It makes things annoying to read, but they are still understandable. I usually catch them if I proofread.

I am the same way. The only time I do not follow rules is if I am tweeting. Not enough space to practice good grammar most of the time.

I see this alot, at the radio station i work for, we get AP news stories to post on our website, and often they have typo's that need fixed. Most people just copy paste and dont really even look to see if it is correctly worded/spelled. I do know our news guy writes anywhere from 3-7 non AP news stories a day, and usually only has a few minutes between being on air to do live news, or record news for overnight to post his stories, which makes it hard to be 100% accurate all the time.
