    Hi!

I hope you can help me, I completed the cleaning process but I am still having some problems.

Friday September 7, 2012 I was watching a movie on Netflix in full screen mode when the screen minimized and I saw that my Norton Anti virus icon had a red x on it.

I clicked on the icon and it said my virus and spyware definitions are not up to date, and that my computer was at risk. I ran an update, and it said the problem was not fixed. I clicked on the support icon expecting to be taken to the Symantec website for support, but an error window came up saying this was not a trusted site. I have copied and pasted the error message here:

The site's security certificate has expired!
You attempted to reach www-secure.symantec.com, but the server presented an expired certificate. No information is available to indicate whether that certificate has been compromised since its expiration. This means Google Chrome cannot guarantee that you are communicating with www-secure.symantec.com and not an attacker. Your computer's clock is currently set to Monday, December 10, 2012 11:15:42 AM. Does that look right? If not, you should correct the error and refresh this page.
You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.

The date is September 10th not December 10th as stated above!

I did not proceed, but instead got a support number from Symantec by a Google search and called them. After 90 minutes of remote access to my computer they told me my virus protection is fine and up to date, but that I have a Trojan.

They offered to fix it for $399.99!

I declined and they came down to $299.99.

I declined again, and they came down to $199.99.

Declining once again, they came to a final offer of $99.99, which I also declined due to lack of trust in them at this point. They were asking for my credit card and I said NO THANKS....(The red x is still on the Norton icon in my menu tray).

Then I came to your website for help and followed the long process of cleaning and performing the Malware removal.

Upon running ROGUEKILLER, MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE, TDSSKILLER and HITMANPRO, no threats were found. (sigh.)

I can get on the internet, but cannot load certain pages, such as Pandora. I still get the scary error message if I click on Norton support.

I am attaching the reports from my efforts as requested, however, I cannot find the log for the HITMANPRO scan, and hope you can offer some advice/help without it. No threats were detected there either.

Thanks so much...I will patiently await a response....in fear!

    MizVic

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
It may be September 10th, but your computer clock is set to Dec 10th which is why you got that message. You logs all show you clock to be set to Dec 10th. Fix your clock and then see what happens.

LMAO! Are you kidding me? Fixing the clock seems to have worked. I got into Pandora right away and the Norton icon is green again....so does this mean I have no Trojan????

You rock man. Thank you so much!

Oh...also...I tried to get the Symantec website error again and did not get it! I was actually directed to the site!

The clock being set on the wrong date messes up a computer BAD eh? Jesus, I accidentally did that looking at the calendar for dates in December, then never reset it to September....DOH!

Also, I guess this means I can go on with step 4 to do the restore thing again?

    :p

    You're welcome.
Correct! And Symantec wanted to charge you $399 dollars to set your date properly. :-D:-D:-D

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps and you do not need to toggle System Restore since there was no infection:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

YEAH and that makes my trust in Symantec not so good any more. I am considering changing my virus protection in November...any suggestions there?

I will follow the steps you have listed....and one last question...WILL YOU MARRY ME??? LOL
