    Hi,

I have HP Pavillion and running Windows XP. For the last few weeks, I am having repeated blue screen where it states that
Blue Screen error- ?BIOS update and disable BIOS memory
    Then it does memory dump- (OXC000008E, OXC0000005, OX805515A1, OXABAE4644, OX00000000).
I have recently added a new memory that is appropriate for the machine and board....and not sure what I need to do to fix the problem.
    Please HELP...to solve the problem.

    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hello,

Which happened first? BSODs or you adding memory? 0x8e is commonly the result of faulty memory.

The memory was installed first and then the blue screen...

Try removing the newly purchased module of memory while the laptop is powered OFF!

I want to clarify something- after couple series of blue screen, data dump, and restarting- computer comes up normal at times. However, at some point during the usage the computer shuts down for no reason and when I reboot it then it goes to blue screen. ANy thoughts!!

It is for too much heat..Do I need to replace the power supply that has the fan?? How come during the reboot- it goes to blue screen and data dump whenever restarting??
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Memory is actually low down on the likely causes of a 0x8E; however, if this is only an example of multiple differing error codes, memory is much more likely to be to blame:
Here's MSFT's troubleshooting blurb, much of it is generic:
The 0xC0000005 as the first parameter makes me think it's probably a driver that's being corrupted whilst in memory or a bad driver corrupting the data in that memory space.

Can you follow the instructions at Sysnative and upload the resulting files back here please?

You can also follow the instructions on that page to check your memory and hard disk while you await replies here.

If you enable Driver Verifier, as requested there too, read the instructions carefully as there's a chance your computer won't restart normally with it.

Thank you for the information and comments. I will try to go through to see how to go about updating BIOS.

The computer had shut down again this morning and it took twice before it started normally.

Couple of times blue screen occured and the message I received are the following:

    BAD_Pool_Caller

    OX000000C2
    OX00000007
    OX00000CD4
    OX04070804
    OxE2CAE400

    Second blue screen- message PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

    OX0000004E
    OX00000099
    OX00020200
    OX00000000

Check with your hardware for any BIOS update. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. ? remove or disable components.

I am interested to know what these message mean and how to fix it. Could someone also tell me if I have to udpate BIOS..how do I do that. I am not familiar and would appreciate step by step directions.

    Thanks a million!!
