RSS and Firefox. I need to rebuild it the way I had it.

I recently lost all my configuration settings for Firefox and am having to rebuild them all from scratch. What a pain it is.

I forget how I did it before, but I had it set up to just show the headlines of RSS feeds by using the following mouse clicks.

Bookmarks > Bookmarks Toolbars .......that was it.

That was all I needed to get to the Named Folders containing just the headlines of the individual feeds....nothing more. Which I could then select to open, if I wanted to.

I've tried some RSS aggregators but they seem way too bloated for my needs. I don't want scrolling headlines, just simple text headlines like I mentioned above.

I don't recall that I needed to use an aggregator before to do this. It seemed that I clicked on a pages RSS icon and selected something like 'Bookmark Toolbars'. Then the feeds appeared.

I liked the way I had it set up because it didn't require any Sidebars, Toolbars, or starting up any RSS programs.

It now gives me one feed of headlines the way I like them. It's properties are:

    http://fxfeeds.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/headlines.xml

I am pretty sure it came with the Firefox install.

    Any ideas?

Try restoring from your Firefox Profile :

Click start, open User Name or Admin,
Press Alt, Select Tools then Folder Options, Click View Tab,

Check: 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'

Uncheck : 'Hide Extensions for Known File Types'

You should now be able to see a 'AppData' File
Keep clicking it until you see Firefox then click on Firefox,
    Then click on Profile,
You can then restore your Firefox Profile from there, after doing so don't forget to reverse the 'Hidden Files and Folders' back to default, then click out.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks. I'll work on that.

The difficulty will be that I am rebuilding Firefox from a complete Restore of my XP computer. All data and programming were wiped out.

I do have a full Paragon backup I have been using, piece by piece. Maybe there would be a particular file or folder that I can restore.

Well thats a different matter then, if you've done a complete restore you may have lost it alltogether, but there is always the option of downloading a 'Data Recovery' tool from here @ MG's, and recovering the the file that way ! ;)

Here is just one of the said tools on offer :

I found the Firefox application data in my backup.

Can I load a larger Folder or should I look for a specific file?
    ...................................................

Edit....I was able to restore the Bookmarks from my backup. It shows the Feeds but there's nothing in them....yet.

There must be an Extension I still need to add.

    Thanks.

I should have figured this out myself.

The feeds just repopulated with new info.

    Success!

Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
