Friend and I are watching Puss in Boots (prequel to Shrek I think) and in one part of the movie Jack says to Jill that he wants to settle down and start a family (with her). In the nursery rhyme, it says that Jill gets scolded by "mother" for laughing at Jack which is why I thought they were brother/sister. Does anyone really know if this is true? I tried looking online but some say yes, some no.

I know this is really random but was just curious LOL We are very disturbed if is true. :-D

 

To be honest I never thought of them as brother and sister, I always just figured they were a couple of kids.
But that might just be me, clearly I over thought it anyway :-D

 

It depends. Was the movie set in Alabama or Mississippi? :-D

 

I always thought they were brother/sister, so did my friend and that's why we were confused. :-D It's ok though, a lot of things in this movie didn't make sense.

The movie was set in a Spanish town, not sure why. lol

It is not stated in the nursery rhyme that Jack and Jill are siblings, but it is inferred. They could just be friends, neighbors, or some such.

 

I'm sure they were brother and sister and the author was using the rhyme as his own perverted outlet because he thought his sister was hot.:-D

That's the whole point of Nursery rhymes,to say what you can't say.
